Meet Gayla Crysler of Vibe Yoga in Allen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gayla Crysler.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started practicing yoga on a regular basis in 2007. After several years of practicing I chose to pursue teaching. I started teaching in 2010. I had told my husband that I thought it would be great to own a yoga studio someday not realizing that dream would actually come true. In 2013, my husband & I purchased Vibe Yoga which had already been established for a few years. Since that time, we’ve grown and it’s been the best experience of my life. Since that time, I completed my RYT500 and ERYT 200 and co-teaching my first yoga teacher training.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like our practice, we come to our mat as a beginner and I did the same as an owner of a studio. There was a huge learning curve and I’m always learning new things to better the studio. The first year was definitely the bumpiest we provide lavender scented towels for our members while in savasana. I learned the hard way that carrier oil can and will go bad. Thank goodness the members and my wonderful teachers stuck with me along the way!

Vibe Yoga – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Vibe Yoga is primarily a vinyasa style yoga studio. We offer 33 different classes and have 12 different teachers. We’re open 7 days a week so there’s a class to fit just about everyone’s schedule. But besides vinyasa, we also offer restorative yoga, meditation, yin yoga and Ashtanga. There’s just such a great variety to choose from. What I love most about our studio is the sense of community you get when you walk in the door. When someone new comes in, they are immediately welcomed by the members. Walking into a new place can be extremely intimidating and especially if you’ve never done yoga before but our members go above and beyond and it’s absolutely great!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Probably when someone tells me that yoga has changed their life. I mean, that’s why teachers teach. We love yoga and want to share our passion for what we love with others. It makes you feel great to know you’ve been able to pass that love on to someone else.
