Today we’d like to introduce you to Portia Andrews.
Portia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I stand on the shoulders of so many that created a platform before me. Family and my ancestors… that’s where my story always begin. I began my holistic journey several years ago interacting on a regular basis with a family member that went through their own mental health battles. Seeing and experiencing that allowed me to really understand the importance of having practices and outlets to address my own challenges with anxiety, stress and depression. I would definitely say my father was the inspiration and motivation for opening my eyes to clean eating. You wouldn’t put 85 octane fuel in a race car and expect high performance. That’s the high-level mindset and care that I begin thinking about my body. With my father’s transition at such a young age, I dedicated my journey to providing holistic resources, information, products, services, etc. to my community.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As long as you keep living, you’re going to experience bumps in the road. It’s all about your perspective and how you respond to them. For instance, my best friend/father’s transition to dwell with the highest, opening a small business and facing anxiety head on are just a few. Was it smooth, absolutely not but when you see challenges and obstacles as opportunities to conquer and thrive it changes you. It changed me!
