Today we’d like to introduce you to Tasty Tails.
Tasty Tails, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Born and raised in New Orleans, we have been surrounded by artfully crafted and delicious food our entire lives. Growing up next to the gulf, fresh seafood was always readily available which played a huge role in our upbringing. During lent, our dad would stop by the shack on 4th street to pick up live sacks of crawfish for our infamous seafood boils… and that’s where our Tasty Tale began.
Has it been a smooth road?
Our business journey has been rather smooth; however, we do face some challenges from time to time just like every other business. We work very hard to provide our customers with only the best New Orleans cooked seafood and dishes. With the high demand of crawfish, there are times where we completely sell out and so we are constantly seeking different seafood vendors to ensure a supply of crawfish for our valuable customers.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
We pride ourselves on providing the freshest seafood in Dallas. With our New Orleans roots, we have a wide variety of vendors but we only choose to source from the best. We believe the quality of food and freshness of product has customers returning for more and telling their friends. Even though we offer same types of things as other restaurants, we try to keep it as close to roots as possible. For po’boys, we get the bread flown in from New Orleans. We get our shrimp and oysters from the gulf. All the seafood is flown in, like the king crab and Dungeness crab. There is a huge difference in how we serve our crawfish. Most typical seafood restaurants in Dallas boil the crawfish in water before adding butter, garlic, or other seasonings, hence the lack of flavor in the meat. Tasty Tails, on the other hand, we emphasize the authenticity of our food so our crawfish is first boiled in different seasonings, spices, fruits, veggies and other secret family ingredients to really fuse the many flavors into the meat of the crawfish. Customers can choose between the traditional New Orleans flavor (NOLA style) or with the Who Dat sauce, which is the traditional crawfish with added garlic and butter and whatever the level of spiciness they can handle (mild, semi-spicy, spicy and extra spicy). Many Louisiana natives come to us because we offer them “crawfish from home” and they can’t get it anywhere else in Dallas. We proudly live and breathe our restaurant’s motto “Fresh Seafood, Traditions & Family.”
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
In my opinion, Dallas has become a “foodie” city. There are so many choices of restaurants and so many new concepts being introduced. People in Dallas has a love for food and so if you have a good product then your restaurant will most likely be successful. You just need to set yourself apart from your competitors and know your audience. Tasty Tails has made a name for ourselves so people travel from all over Dallas to come dine with us.
