Meet Prince Armani

Today we’d like to introduce you to Prince Armani.

Prince, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started making music when I was 12. It all started in my bedroom when I couldn’t afford any studio time so I started recording myself on cell phones, tape recorders, cameras, etc. Anything that had an audio recording feature. So as time went on and I got older, I began to work with my father who has a studio full of equipment which allowed me to develop my sound.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been smooth. Outside of the regular life issues that we all go through as humans some of my biggest challenges has been trying to brand a very unpopular style of music in a place that isn’t very accepting of it. Over the years, the perception has changed a bit but we still have a lot of work to do.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
Prince Armani is more than a rapper or a recording artist. He’s a producer, a writer, a sound engineer in training, and just an overall visionary. I specialize in creating a sound that this region hasn’t put out to the world and be proud of in our history. I’m known for being a lyricist, a wordsmith that brings a certain feel and style. We are most proud of having a song placed on spike lee’s “she’s gotta have it” Netflix series. I believe the content and the creativity that we deliver it with sets us apart from others.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is relative to the person that is seeking it. I believe for us success is the acclaim and the respect from our fans, piers, and culture as a whole. The money comes with time but what we aim for is our spot in contributing to the shift and the acceptance of what it is that we bring to the table.
