Shalisa, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started doing taxes when I lived in Tennessee a few years back. I then relocated to Dallas in 2014 and didn’t have a network until four years after I lived here. I met a gentleman and worked with his company and I realized I could maximize my services more efficiently by having my own company. In 2019 I decided to research and take the proper measures to establish my own tax company. I then became Exquisite Tax Service, where I was able to prepare my returning clients as well as establish new relationships with new clients not only in the DFW area but within all 50 states.
During this opportunity, I have exceeded my own expectations and personal goals by venturing out and offering addiontional services other than tax consulting. With operating my own business, it has given me the opportunity to provide weekly meals to the homeless in the local Fort Worth and Dallas area. I plan to continue my journey with my initiative to not only provide my professional tax services but to also assist those in need.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, some of the struggles I faced was navigating my way through the process without guidance and having a mentor to seek for advice. Another struggle was adjusting to a new environment and making sure my services were top of the line with other competitor established businesses. Making sure my clients new that Exquisite was the right choice for them.
Exquisite Tax Service – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My business is a tax preparation service. I prepare personal and business taxes, I specialize in small entrepreneurial tax services. Exquisite also provides credit restoration and life insurance consultation. I am known for my Exquisite talent and knowledge on tax laws and getting the job done correctly and effectively. I am most proud of my business name because it speaks for itself. My goal is to always provide top of the line and white-glove service to all clients. I treat all my clients with the upmost respect and I provide education for their business to grow. I am set apart from other companies alike because the quality is more important to me than quantity.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success, to me is creating a goal, setting the bar high, and crushing the goal exceedingly of your expectations. My criteria of success is trying something new, believing in myself, and making sure I am putting myself in the position to win even though I may face obstacles and want to give up.
