Meet Jessica Correa of Center Health Acupuncture in Colleyville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Correa.

Jessica, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My story starts with my own health issues that I had as a young adult. I suffered from terrible acne for many years and was at my wit’s end with trying different acne products that never really worked. I began getting acupuncture and taking herbs to help heal my acne. Many people think that acne is not a health issue and that it’s just an aesthetic concern but that is further from the truth. Acne never just shows up alone. There are usually other accompanying symptoms that point to other organ systems that are imbalanced that are the real cause of acne.

I started seeing great results with my acne and decided that I wanted to become an Acupuncturist. Getting through school was not easy for me. During the four year program, I was pregnant twice and gave birth twice. At times I wanted to just give up but I pushed forward. Eventually, I graduated from the Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with a Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and obtained my license in California and Texas.

In the beginning of my working career as an Acupuncturist, I worked for a few clinics that were not my own and learned a lot. I learned how I wanted to be as an Acupuncturist but also how I did not want to be. I remember very clearly my boss, who was a woman, once told me that she did not believe I could have my own practice because I had kids. She said it would be too hard and that I should just work for someone else. Her words always stayed in the back of my mind. I almost believed her. I almost let her idea of what she thought was possible to make a dream of mine impossible.

In March of 2020, I decided to open my own practice in the beautiful city of Collevyille, Texas. Our mission at Center Health Acupuncture is to help bring balance, health and happiness to people’s lives. I feel so blessed to be able to do this every day!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think the biggest struggle along my journey has had to do with being a mother of three children. Being a mother has its beauties but I will say while I was in school and studying for my board examinations while taking care of three kids has been the hardest. Trying to accomplish anything with three small children is difficult!

Center Health Acupuncture – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Center Health Acupuncture is a medical practice that specializes in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. I focus on treating pain, anxiety, stress, insomnia and women’s health issues. I also specialize in cosmetic acupuncture, which helps slow the aging process and treat fine lines and wrinkles. In our office, we offer Acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, herbal and supplement recommendations. I am most proud of the customer service that is provided. I make sure you feel welcomed, heard and taken care of at each visit. With every visit, we make small steps towards a health goal and obtain consistent results.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I feel the most proud when a patient tells me how much our treatments has helped them. When a patient tells me they no longer have pain, or they reduced their medication because of the work we’ve been doing, that makes me feel so proud and happy that I do what I do.
