Meet Torie Erumi of ScotsHill House

Today we’d like to introduce you to Torie Erumi.

Torie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
ScotsHill House is a DIY/Interior Decor blog. I finally started it about two years ago after expressing the desire to do so more times than I can remember! I have always had an eye for interior design and decor. I finally got the tools that I needed to start the DIY process a couple of years ago and haven’t looked back.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Definitely not a smooth ride. The DIY process typically involves trial and error. No matter how much research I do, I find that I often return to the drawing board to tweak plans and incorporate new ideas. However, that is the beauty about figuring it out. There is always a lesson to learn, a new way to approach things. As a full-time working mom, maintaining home life, work, and the blog is a juggling act. Planning ahead is my key way to making it all happen.

Please tell us about ScotsHill House.
ScotsHill House is a DIY interior decor blog where I focus on ways to improve your home in a budget-friendly manner. I use tutorials and videos on my Instagram page to share tips and my process. I believe everyone deserves to live in a space that is relaxing, comfortable, and reflects them, regardless of budget. My goal is to provide inspiration and empower my audience to know that they can achieve the look they are going for through DIY and affordable sources. I have also started offering e-design services.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me in the decor space is being able to bring a project/vision to life. It is gratifying to be able to look at a project and know that I brought it to life with my own hands. Completing projects gives me the joy and motivation to keep creating.
