Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Blake.
Rachel, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My cake pop journey began in 2016 when I stumbled across a cake pop on good ol’ Pinterest. I quickly became addicted to making (and eating) these bite-sized treats covered in chocolate and sprinkles! After seeing how successful my cake pops were with family and friends, I decided to start Blake Pops and turn my hobby into a dream job!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There are definitely difficulties when it comes to running my own business. For instance, I am an introvert, so I have to make sure I am putting myself out there and allowing people not only to see my cake pops but also get to know the face behind the business. There is a lot to learn when it comes to running a business, but I’m working hard and learning new skills every day!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Blake Pops story. Tell us more about the business.
Blake Pops is a cake pop business that caters to many events such as weddings, birthday parties, and holiday celebrations. I turn themes and special moments into edible bite-sized treats. What sets me apart from others is my attention to detail, my patience, and my creativity! Also, I love what I do. It is such an honor that people allow me to be a part of their special moments.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I am super lucky that I have a family that supports me and loves me so well. I would not have started this business if it wasn’t for my family pushing me to pursue it. I feel lucky that I get to wake up everyday to a job that I truly enjoy.
