Meet Veronica Bradley of Vector Brewing in Lake Highlands

Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Bradley.

Veronica, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Everyone’s done it; during a quiet moment, thought, “It would be nice to have a place like this.” Well, our thoughts turned into a naming session. Which morphed into getting an LLC filed. Then, that lead to finding a location, which was the catalyst for getting a loan. Pretty soon, Vector Brewing was under construction and we were standing in front of it going, “Whoa, this is really happening.”

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Opening a business like this cannot be done without help, and we’ve needed very unique kinds of help. Right as the Vector ball started rolling, we got caught in the Government Shutdown of 2018-2019, which means our funding disappeared overnight without any other option in sight. However, our community stepped up and got us through that hurdle.

Then, we had random little scares here and there. But the biggest challenge yet has been COVID-19. On-site dining as a whole has tanked. Bars and restaurants were forced to shut their doors to comply with shelter-in-place rules. And with occupancy restrictions and continued mandated shutdowns (not to mention constantly changing rules), many aren’t surviving. Being a brand new baby business during these times with no money yet for a rainy day—let along a rainy season—has been an ultra marathon. But so far, we’re keeping the cramps at bay.

Please tell us about Vector Brewing.
Vector Brewing creates beer and food for adventurous tastebuds. We lead people in new directions, letting them discover new things to love. All of our beer is brewed right here in Lake Highlands in fact, you can see the brewery from our taproom. You can get the cleanest lagers to the most intense IPAs with beautiful, robust stouts thrown in the mix. Eventually, we’ll also have a barrel-aging program for some real fun.

Our scratch kitchen creates pizzas, unlike anything you can get in DFW. With mouthwatering sourdough crust, we make basic pepperoni, as well as things like our Mamma Said, a true bit of comfort food with ground beef and potatoes. We’re family-owned, we’re the only Vector Brewing, and we love our community. But most importantly, we’d love to see you there.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would build a time machine so I could better coordinate when we opened. Having to come out of the gate during a global pandemic really sucks on a level that cannot be understood. But we’re scrappy, have an amazing staff, and aren’t afraid of a good challenge, so we’ll get through this!
