Angela, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Having Furbabies of my own who had allergies and stomach issues, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I was tired of my precious furbabies not being able to enjoy treats, and none of the big box stores had a solution; That’s how Furbabies Bakery got it’s kickstart. I couldn’t stop there, once I started making treats, I took it further and started making them their own birthday cakes. I already threw my pets birthday parties, and friends and family started asking me to throw their pets a party too, and BOOM! Barkday Bashes and Events was created.
Has it been a smooth road?
Smooth, no. Adventurous, absoutley! Starting a business isn’t easy and takes hours and hours of hard work and dedication. Now, one of the biggest adventures has been starting a business one month before COVID-19 changed the way the world operates. If having a small business has been difficult in this time, having a new small (or nano even) business start up has at times seemed too big of an undertaking. Nevertheless, here we are still baking great treats for pets.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the FurBabies Bakery, Barkday Bashes and Events story. Tell us more about the business.
I’d love to. Let’s start with FurBabies Bakery. Our Bakery makes treats for your pets like Miley’s Cheesy Carrot Fries, Sybil’s Peanut Butter and Pumpkin Treats, and New’t Banana Oat Woofles. We also make yummy fresh treats like birthday, (gotcha day), adoption day cakes. What’s amazing about our treats is that they are made with all natural human grade ingredients with no added preservatives. Our goal is provide good, healthy, all natural treats and help people treat their pets like the members of the family they are.
Barkday Bashes and Events, is a business that sprung up because I love to throw parties for pets. Barkday Bashes will come out and throw your pet the best celebration party ever! Birthdays, Gotcha Day, adoption day, weddings, celebration of life, and many others. But we know that some folks want to keep it smaller, and do it themselves so we created a “Fetch Your Pawty Box” with everything you will need to throw your furbaby the best bash.
These business are my heart and soul. COVID-19 has had a hard impact on us, but here we are still making quality treats for your and our pets, that is something I am very proud of.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I believe that over the next decade the current trend regarding pets will continue. We have already seen pets being treated more like family, and pet parents seeking education about pet nutrition, health and safety. I believe because of this we are going to be in a very good place in the industry that is going to continue to thrive.
