Today we’d like to introduce you to Catherine Golden.
Catherine, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My journey started in 2018 when I opened a photography studio in the historic downtown Malakoff. I fell in love with the community and the people here. Fast forward to a year later, I purchased my building on the main street in Malakoff and opened my gallery. I have always loved the arts in all fashion and have wanted a gallery to support all of the known and undiscovered talent around Cedar Creek Lake.
Has it been a smooth road?
Haha. Opening any new business has its ups and downs. You just have to have the perseverance to keep on keeping on and all things work out in the end. Yes, it can be stressful at times, as for any business just starting out but with the support of other business owners and the community, it works out.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Artful Thinking Gallery story. Tell us more about your art.
At Artful Thinking Gallery, we support all the artists surrounding the Cedar Creek Lake area and outward. The art changes monthly to showcase a themed art show or a spotlight show of a specific artist. Artful Thinking is the only gallery on Cedar Creek Lake and very proud to be so. Being here has brought new interest in the arts and culture to the city of Malakoff. Here at the gallery, we are not biased to age, gender or styles of art, everyone and styles are all welcome. How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Owning an art gallery, it is hard to tell how things will be in the future. We are wanting to have a Sip and Paint once a month soon and possibly holding art/music-related events as well. The Cedar Creek area is growing exponentially. My dream is to have a hip, fun and artsy place for everyone to enjoy great art and themselves.
