Today we’d like to introduce you to Ernest Musik.
Ernest, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started writing music around the age of 16 and for the next two years I began to develop my vocals. Growing up I was always a shy kid, my family nor the people at my school at the time knew that I could sing until after I performed in front of them and after receiving a warm reception I knew music was my calling. I have performed in various R&B vocal groups even touring in different cities but in 2012, I decided to step out on my own to become a solo artist because I knew that my journey was not the same journey everyone else was pursuing.
On June 23rd of 2013, I committed my life to the Lord and immediately stop making R&B music because the Lord was taking me in a different direction with my music. From 2013 to 2015 I did not record or tour because it was hard for me, in the beginning, to transition from R&B to Contemporary Christian Music but I knew that I did not want to make traditional Gospel music instead I wanted it to be relevant, something people can relate to when they are faced with real issues on a daily basis, Around 2016 I began to develop a Neo-soul Gospel style pattern in my writings and I even recorded my first song “Light On (Ready To Go). It was that song that got me connected with Sam P of the independent label Renew Your Mind Music in which I signed under that same year and released my first solo project entitled “From The Heart.”
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It defiantly has not been as smooth like I would have wanted it to be because transitioning over from writing about things that I had no desire for any more to Christian music was a bit of a challenge but I knew that God wanted the music that I made going forward to be unique, something that was not traditional and stood apart to be able to reach and impact many people of all backgrounds and nations.
Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I am a Singer-Songwriter under the Independent label Renew Your Mind Music which consists of Myself, Vessel Piece, Trizzy Tre and the Founder and CEO Sam P. What sets me apart is the message behind the music, I want to be able to create content that makes people think about there life and the direction they are headed. My purpose in life is to make Jesus known throughout everything I do, whether it be Music, Film or Writing, my purpose is to decrease and allow The Lord to Increase.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
One characteristic would be the style in which I sing, for years, I would try to mimic others but I was trying to be something I was not so I developed my own smooth side of singing in which has gained a lot of attention from its uniqueness.
