Today we’d like to introduce you to Lupe Prado.
Lupe, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a professional coach. I focus on career and life coaching. I started my coaching business in the fall of 2018. I am so incredibly passionate about my work. I realize that coaching allows me to use my strengths, which include listening deeply, processing emotion and connecting with people. I help clients who are feeling stuck in their careers or wanting more out of their work. When they’re hoping to grow or change directions, I help them find clarity, figure out the next steps, and take action to build a career and life that make them happy. I’ve now coached clients across all industries, from creative small business owners to corporate professionals to CEOs. Prior to starting my coaching business, I worked for eight years in financial reporting and public accounting.
Has it been a smooth road?
I didn’t realize how tough it would be for me to go from working on a team surrounded by people to being a solopreneur. I was very lonely in the beginning. I learned to make it a point to go out and meet other entrepreneurs.
I have been a very strong coach for years but learning how to build a business was definitely a challenge for me because it has required building a different set of skills. I have learned so much about marketing, communicating and, in general, being confident about the value I bring as a coach. I have grown so much in this process and all of the struggles along the way have shown me how much I love the work that I do.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I specialize in career and life coaching. I’m known for my gentle coaching approach, my strong listening skills and my ability to help my client’s process emotion and get clarity on their goals. I am so proud that through my work I am creating a positive ripple effect in people’s lives. What sets me apart from others is that my clients will never feel judged by me. They will always feel supported. Our coaching conversations are like I am holding up a mirror for them so that they may see themselves more clearly. I provide my clients with tools and resources so that they can immediately see a change in their life. I am committed to being the very best coach that I can be so that I am better able to serve my clients. My unique background in accounting allows me to understand both corporate professionals and entrepreneurs.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think our city is a wonderful place for a business like mine. The DFW area has so many strong and diverse industries. There are many professionals looking to get clarity on the direction of their careers.
