Today we’d like to introduce you to Cody Arnold.
Cody, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
1 Box, 12 Shirts. That’s where the true story started. Being 20 years old without the support of my parents, it’s a little more challenging to follow my dreams. Everything I want to do, I have to hustle for. When I first found a local printing source, I had to buy a minimum of 12 shirts in wholesale. I bought them, sent them to some close friends and creators, and that’s when I realized how deep this passion runs.
Despite me struggling with some student/medical debt, I still feel called to grow this brand to bless others. I don’t plan on living on it anytime soon. I want to buy someone a car, pay for their groceries. I want to do something crazy then point right to God! I don’t know exactly what this road looks like, but I know I’m supposed to be on it.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely has not been a smooth road. Luckily I have a few connections to help me keep things efficient (taxes, certificates, etc.)
The hardest part has definitely been the financial perspective. If it were up to me, I’d have my home office decked out with camera gear, props, inventory, etc. Again, being 20 years old, my hands are a little tied. However, God has definitely bridged every gap to provide me exactly what I need. I would spontaneously meet photographers, models, and business owners who all are somehow ready to pour their hearts into the cause!
Please tell us about Till Christ Returns.
Till Christ Returns is meant to bless others all while providing Christ-inspired street-wear, I’ve spent my entire high school career learning the limits of technology and design and it has helped me a ton with getting this all put together. While I support donating to charity, I wanted to get a little more hands-on with the blessing. I want to spontaneously pay for someone’s groceries, pay a month’s rent, buy a car for a family, heck maybe even buy a house? I want to stand out in a way that could only be explained with “God really is using that.”
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
It was one of the first times I got in trouble. I just got two sets of those little cubes made out of magnetic balls (look up Neo Balls on Google)! I brought them to middle school to kind of fidget with on my free time. Then I took two of them and put them on my ear, and it looked like I got my ear pierced!
Someone quickly commented on it, and I showed them how it was easily removable. They slammed $5 on the table and offered to buy 2 of the individual magnetic beads to have a fake piercing. I had about 532 of these things in total. (Potentially over $1,000). Word quickly spread that I was selling these and for the next week, people would approach me in the hall, money in hand, and would buy two of these little neo balls. I had so much money in my pocket that I would only be able to count it on the floor in my room once I got home.
But one day, I got called to the principles office. I instantly knew it was regarding my little business, so I prepared my mind with excuses such as “I’ve gotta put food on the table somehow?” He didn’t find it amusing and simply asked me to stop. Being the goodie-goodie I am, I cashed out right then and there. Apparently, kids were leaving it on their ears for too long to where it was actually going through the ear lobe!
I knew I was bound to be involved in the business from then on.
