Thanks for sharing your story with us Wendy and Roberto. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My husband and I were born in El Salvador, I personally came to the states at the age of 16 years old, my husband came as a grown man but was rapidly adjusted to the life here in the USA. Our life back home was a simple life, we only got what we need it to live. For me growing up in the USA was a big challenge, from learning a new language to understanding the way Americans lived their life. Really soon, I was in love with the culture and the overall of living in the USA. After graduating from High School, I knew that just having a diploma was not enough. I worked on several types of jobs like, restaurants, babysitting, cleaning, etc. that teach me different aspects of how to manage a business. I also study cosmetology while I was attending a community college to earn an accounting diploma. I met my husband 10 years ago, together we have 2-year-old twin boys plus my other 3 boys I already had, it made us a big happy family! My goal was to own a business one day but my mind was not set to what kind of business we were looking for. After all this years of working at an insurance office managing the accounting department and saving money, the opportunity came to us! One of our friends told us about a business that was for sale! We looked it up and at that moment we knew this is what we have been looking for! A Popcorn Store! We love it! More than 50 flavors of popcorn that is cook daily fresh and ready to go for our customers. It’s an amazing feeling when we make so many customers happy with our products. We have put all our trust and energy to make our business grow and stay on top to make sure the quality and customer service is our number one priority!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No, it’s never an easy road when you have your own business. You have so many challenges starting with the stress of not knowing if your sales revenue will meet your end of the month expenses. There are also the obstacles of depriving yourself of social life and family events because our business takes a lot of our time to make sure we can provide the best service to our customers.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Lonestar Popcorn story. Tell us more about the business.
We are a small retail store. We have two stores in the Dallas area and we also sell online and ship nationwide! We specialize in Gourmet Popcorn! We have more than 60 plus flavors and hundreds of combinations to satisfy your taste!
We are known for our best seller “Dill Pickle” “Texas two-step” and our traditional “Caramel Popcorn” you got to try it!
We are proud of our quality and freshness! As we cook our popcorn daily. We are also proud to provide the best customer service! We will not be here if is not for our loyal customers! Our customer trust us that we will have what they are looking for from small gifts, company parties, special events, weddings, to fundraisers and donations that we do and feel proud to help & return the favor to our community.
