Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Robinson.
Kristen, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My career path actually started with a Groupon, a toddler, a newborn with severe health issues, and an empty bank account. My youngest daughter was born with a rare disease that required several operations and a lengthy NICU stay, a lot of medical bills, and me to stay home with her. One day I was scrolling Groupon and saw an ad for Real Estate Licensing Classes for $150 and thought, why not? A few weeks later I had my license, babies in tow, attending training classes, and hunting for leads. I closed my first deal two weeks after getting my license and I haven’t quit hustling since.
With a tight marketing budget, I immediately turned to social media to grow my sphere and search for leads. I learned how to take quality photos, edit them, blog, and grow an Instagram presence. Today my business has transitioned into a small team out of Princeton, TX and I am the Social Media Coach for Simply Texas Real Estate. I get to continue helping others buy and sell while coaching agents for success in their business and teaching them how to utilize social media for growth. I am super thankful for the opportunity to build a business that changed our lives, allows me to be home to raise my daughters, it opened doors for my husband to launch his company (Pool Boss), and us to design a life we love! In my spare time (is that a thing?) I do Instagram influencing focused on lifestyle- travel, family, fashion, home decor, and the day to day of our chaotic life!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh yeah, totally smooth! I wish! I can honestly say these have been the most challenging years of my life but they have been completely worth it. I am seeing the payoff now and while I know there will be more struggles, I also know in the end this is the path that leads to exactly where I see myself in 10, 25, 50+ years. There will always be failures, you will mess up, unforeseen circumstances will happen. Balancing all of it doesn’t come naturally or easily, it is also not the same formula for each person. There is a lot of give and take, a lot of sacrifice, and a lot of being knocked off your pedestal welcome back down to earth moments. I had to learn so many of those lessons the hard way, the extra hard way, but it only made my business better and it changed and molded me as a person too.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
On the real estate front – I specialize in listings and new construction. Designing things is my jam, so I love when clients want to build ground up and go through all the selection processes. Staging listings genuinely makes me happy- the declutter and organizing process, then transforming a space… my favorite! I would say I am definitely known for those two things. I am a redhead so I’ve often been referenced as the redheaded realtor with a get-things-done bulldog personality to go with it. I tend to be an out of the box thinker which I think adds value to me!
For social media coaching – I don’t believe one method works for every person. I also don’t believe my methods or ways of doing things are the only right ways. So I try to get to know each agent I work with and create a plan that fits them as a person and their style. I think that is exactly what makes me different, most just want you to follow their step by step plan based on what worked for them versus tailoring it to each person.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I’ve often thought about this and wondered, what moment truly made me most proud? For awhile it was tied to awards I had received or sales volume numbers. But really, there isn’t a moment. Those things are definitely things I am proud of but they are just small moments in my journey. I am really just proud of where I am now versus where I was five years ago. I am proud of myself for having the courage to take a risk, push forward when things were hard, and learning to give myself and others a lot of grace along the way.
