LeLe, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started out doing hair…sew-ins and braids mostly….so I went to school and got my barber license, ultimately doing hair wasn’t for me. I went back to school and got my esthetic license in skin care…. I knew I wanted to be in the beauty industry. After several failed interviews after graduating school in various lanes of the industry including lashes, make up, skin care, waxing, beauty brands etc. I stumble upon a position in body sugaring…. I had an interview and was instantly hired, trained and certified in Sugaring….I was super excited to be a part of the industry that wasn’t heavily saturated and wanted to capitalize off that…I was with the company for about 6 months before I decided to go into business for myself…. I wanted to brand myself and make more money of course…. who doesn’t want to be their own boss.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There was definitely the struggle of wanting to open my own business and paying rent at a suite with absolutely no clients. It actually took a few months before I actually had clients coming in. Not only do I have to promote myself, I have to promote body sugaring, a service that is not that well known.
