Today we’d like to introduce you to Addison Bell.
Addison, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I stand here on the shoulders of Giants (my friends, past therapist/coaches, and spiritual gurus)! Without the people in my life that have shown up like Earth Angels, I would never be who or where I am today. One of the first things I learned about myself growing up was that I LOVE helping people, I see their unique beauty, and enjoy sharing my gifts in a loving way. I work to see the divine light in each person I meet since everyone has a story to tell and a message to share.
I grew up in a small town in upstate New York and was a shy kid but had a massive love and curiosity for all kinds of topics, including the human psyche. I could always be found reading books on self-growth, sexuality, body-image and was the kid people shared things with consistently.
I studied psychology in undergrad and eventually went on to pursue and earn a Master’s in Counseling. Throughout my childhood and up into my early twenties, I battled a severe eating disorder and so once recovered and working in the therapy field myself, I had a strong desire to work in the field of eating disorders.
While still a therapist I became friends with a Sex and Relationship Coach and fell in love with the work she was doing. I saw the power in owning our entire selves and truly loving all aspects, including our sex. Through my own personal work and through working with clients, I began seeing the severe need for sexual healing. It became apparent to me how ‘hungry’ so many people are and I wanted to be able to provide a space of healing. I began doing spiritual and metaphysical studies and decided to leave the realm of traditional therapy.
Over the last few years, I have been able to create a truly beautiful and abundant coaching practice focused on Sex, Relationships, Body-Image, and use a variety of metaphysical and coaching modalities. I feel like I’ve strived and been able to create a safe zone where clients can come and feel free to be real and authentic. I get to lead amazing workshops in-person and online with individuals where I watch as people come back to their core self and begin living a vibrant life!
I’ve been featured and written for Elephant Journal, DatingAdvice.com, Rebelle Society, Consumer Health, Performance Insiders, Thought Catalog and had the privilege to do numerous podcasts to help gain more awareness in the world as a whole.
Has it been a smooth road?
Not even close! The road has consistently changed along the way with smooth patches, steep hills, bumps, and even some full turnarounds, but I wouldn’t take any of it back. Even the beginning of this journey was challenging to get a Master’s in Counseling while recovering from an eating disorder was intensely challenging. That took a strength within that I can’t put words too but it has given me the self-knowledge that if I could get through that, then I really would make it through all of the other ups and downs on this road.
There was initially massive fear in going from traditional therapy into the unknown land of coaching and particularly coaching on the topic of sex and relationships, which is often shamed and looked down upon by our society. Each new level of my coaching practice has required me to look internally at what is aligned for me despite what may have been in my comfort zone.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am known for helping people find their expansive bliss-filled lives. Women and men come to me to explore all aspects of themselves, with a focus on sexuality, so they can enrich their lives. Living an Expansive life is all about living authentically on your own terms and that includes tapping into the beauty that often gets lost in the commotion of daily routines with family, work, friends, and kids—focusing on waking up excited to greet the day and get started. And understanding that all aspects of life, career, relationships, sexuality, emotions, and spirit; are interconnected and need nurturing.
I have a powerful and profound way of helping clients find fulfillment in all areas of their lives. I’ve been told I am a playful individual that uses both my years of experience and personal journey to help people to move forward. Clients are often refreshed by my open and honest approach to issues of sexuality, desire, body-image and spirituality. I’m real, authentic, and honest with my clients!
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I should have been born in Dallas! I enjoy the people and the flow of the metroplex. I moved here at 16 years old and I have found it amazing to see how it has grown and changed over the years. Dallas area is just starting to really awaken to spiritual practices and the understanding that healing all aspects of the self are needed, including the topic of sexuality. Though I’ve seen some beautiful growth and expansion as the Dallas metroplex is growing and taking in people from different walks of life.
If someone feels truly called to start a business or endeavor, I would say, DO IT! You feel that calling for a reason and stifling it will never lead you to your most fulfilled life. And Dallas has a beautiful mix of people and so if you are doing what you desire, then your people will find you.
