Meet Terrance Mosley II

Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrance Mosley II.

Terrance, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born in Atlanta, Georgia but lived in Dallas, Texas, since I was six months with my grandmother and aunt. With never meeting my biological mom, my grandmother was the authority of music in the house. This being said, Developing into a rapper was almost impossible in my household due to the fact my grandmother wouldn’t let me listen to rap music. So after years of sneaking to listen to this new type of sound, I began developing a burning passion for hip hop.

I didn’t begin making music until 2010, but In 2013, I shifted my unorthodox journey into music by trying to start a rap full-blown rap career in college. Proudly Attending the University of Houston in 2013 was a pivotal part of my career, because not only did my career strive there, it actually died there early on.

One morning during my first semester, I was invited to a church service, but right before I walked out the door, I decided I was done with music. It hadn’t gone anywhere, so I was ready to quit. But upon entering the service, however, I received a moment of clarity when the Pastor looked up at me in the balcony and said, “Someone in here just quit their dream, and I’m here to tell you The Lord is saying not to quit.”

From then on I took those next four years to not only educate himself but to hone and master my craft. Throughout college, I began building and cultivating a passionate fan base, even at one point having my Spotify and apple music account reaching millions of streams. Also during that time, I performed at countless venues and open mics, all of which leading up to me opening up for D.R.A.M in 2017 in front of two thousand people, as well as opening up for Mike Jones and Slim thug in 2018 in front of another two thousand person crowd.

Has it been a smooth road?
Absolutely not, At one point, I wanted to quit every few weeks. People didn’t want to hear music by someone they didn’t know. Starting that career in college was extremely expensive, and I only worked security 2-3 times a week.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am T-Shawn, the Artist, but as a larger company, I represent “The Tomorrow Foundation,” An LLC and non-profit that caters to working and uplifting children with single-parent households. What sets us apart is we have a passion for changing lives and connecting children with people who can help show/guide them not only to their career paths but to become and mentally and emotionally whole person.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Dallas is a great place to start a music and a non-profit for kids. I would recommend anybody give Dallas a try when starting out a business. The city can do more to allow hip hop artist the opportunity to get out in front of people.
