Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeanetta Thomas.
Jeanetta, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am an author, speaker, and entrepreneur. I’m passionate about helping women reach their highest potential by tapping into their unique abilities and embracing their authentic selves. I started as an entry-level worker and discovered my ability to transform underperforming teams and implement processes/programs resulting in organization efficiencies as my true skill set. This discovery launched my career in the Banking and Financial Services Industry which led to an executive role, now CEO of my own company, iEsteem. I have a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a master’s degree in Organizational Management.
Because of the trials and errors that I experienced throughout this journey I developed a brand of products and services aimed to encourage women going through the same journey. There are many unspoken rules that people don’t share with you. Though I spent 20 years uncovering these “unspoken rules” — now what I like to call gems — my passion is to shorten this timeframe for other women.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest struggles I faced along the way is believing in myself. Although I’ve been successful in my life, I wasn’t always confident. I needed to learn that no matter how many degrees I hold, I also have divine given abilities that no one else has and there is a demand for. I had to embrace my differences and celebrate that there is a specific audience who needs my services and there are problems that only I can solve. I discovered my personal success quotient, which I define as education + experience (*divine natural abilities in my book Discovering Your Divine Natural Abilities). Society/organizations have their idea of what the norm should be but the truth is, innovation isn’t about what already exists. I learned how not to self-sabotage by letting my emotions get in the way by, instead, understanding my strengths, opportunities and triggers and implementing emotional intelligence.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
My company, iEsteem, is based on Psalm 139:14: “For you are fearfully and wonderfully made.”
I specialize in encouraging women by helping them to discover and embrace their unique selves.
We provide Affirmation Apparel, Products and Services designed to encourage, educate and empower women to walk in authentic confidence while inspiring others to do the same.
The core message of the company, “each one of us are uniquely made,” is etched in everything that we do. Each person has a secret sauce that’s different from everyone else. When God created us, He had a plan in mind. He knew exactly what was needed. As a result, each one of us was created. Think of it as a CEO creating the ultimate team to carry out the goals of the firm. She/He knows a diverse-candidate slate is needed. This is the way I believe God saw fit to design each one of us. I want every woman to know they are fearfully and wonderfully made. It’s my passion for each of these women to embrace every unique aspect, then completely identify what it is that gives them the edge in any arena, whether it’s in business or their personal lives. It’s important that they never fall into the comparison trap because it’s a dangerous place to be. The comparison trap is dangerous because it keeps you from reaching the very audience you were created to reach.
My book, Discovering your Divine Natural Abilities, a #1 New Release, starts this process. The work is continued through coaching services that help to add clarity to what they have discovered and by putting together a plan for them to walk out their Natural Abilities.
The self-help industry is a billion-dollar industry and is projected to continue to increase.
iEsteem intends to continue to focus on these strategic trends as vehicles of expressing uniqueness and will embark on other new and creative ways of elegantly expressing uniqueness as they develop.
What were you like growing up?
Although I am very much an introvert growing up, some may describe me as the perfect mix of the chatty popular girl and nerd. I would consider myself to be outgoing. I was an honor roll student for the majority of my time in school. I attended dance school for a number of years, played an instrument (clarinet) and ran track for a small period.
