Rising Stars: Meet Tori Martin

Hi Tori, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started in the Texas music scene at 16 years old, hailing from Azle, TX. I recorded my first EP, “Falling Straight Up,” in Nashville and headlined my first concert in 2010. I’ve toured all over the Southwest of the United States, building my career up, having great success on the Texas charts. In 2014-2015, I was a contestant on Season 14 of American Idol. Coming off of the show, I continued to tour and build my fan base in Texas. In 2017, I moved to Nashville to take my music career to new heights, honing in on my songwriting craft and defining my sound. In the summer of 2020, I signed as the flagship artist of LuckySky Music. I’m very excited for the future of my career!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not! The highs have been high, and the lows have been low. I know without a shadow of a doubt that this is what I was created to do. I’m an enneagram 3, so I’m very driven for my goals! I wrote a song called “Living the Dream,” talking about my journey of never giving up. It’s an amazing feeling to inspire others to always follow their dreams, no matter how hard that may be!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a country artist and songwriter. I’ve had multiple Top 20 hits on the TX charts, was an American Idol contestant, recently signed a record deal and also do Interior Decorating. I’m most proud of inspiring friends, family and fans to follow your dreams no matter what. I’ve worked hard to hone my craft and sound with my latest album, “Lucky,” and I’m so proud of this project. The lead single, “What Would Dolly Do?” has already had great success and just released nationally/internationally.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I grew up a military brat moving around frequently and landed in Texas at the age of seven. In the summers, I always loved going to stay at my Paw-Paw’s house. It was kind of the “home that built me” and I wouldn’t be in music if it weren’t for him. Paw-Paw encouraged to follow my dreams and raised me on the classics of country music. I love to think back on singing Tammy Wynette for the family around his record player as a little girl.
