Hi Tiffany, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Growing up, I was active, imaginative and ambitious. As a girl you could catch me playing outside, riding my bike, drawing, or proving to my little brothers, somehow, that I was the big sister. In my teenage years, I loved playing basketball, cheerleading, art and doing speech competitions, among other things. I was always striving for my best self, following my heart and never questioning the voice that guides me. When I was about 18 years old, living in my first little apartment, my girlfriend came over with a Power Yoga by Rodney Yee DVD. It was my first time doing Yoga and honestly, it was magical. It was a transformative and awakening moment for me and I knew Yoga would be something I practiced for the rest of my life. Since that day, nearly ten years ago, I have held my practice and it has grown and transformed, along with me. About three years after I first began practicing, my Yoga practice deepened intensely. It was actually the first time I mindfully committed to a daily practice. For a solid nine months, I practiced Yoga every single day, all the while growing a life inside of me.
When my firstborn turned one, my husband and I planned for our second child. The second time around, pregnancy wasn’t as easily enjoyable. I fell asleep before my nightly Yoga practice and woke up with a charley horse. My body immediately felt the difference without my practice and woke me up to remind that I needed to move. That moment embedded in my mind how Yoga benefits the body. I practiced Yoga during that time as a necessity, to be comfortable and keep things flowing and open in my body. Recently, my Yoga journey has brought me to obtain a formal teaching certification with 721yoga. During my Yoga Teacher Training, I made a decision to take all of my passions and turn them into a business that I am calling Clan Mother Yoga. I want to share things with others that bring me joy and wellbeing in my own life. I want to help people experience good feelings and good memories and even experience bad feelings and bad memories in a healthy and productive way. In my business, my focus is to share yoga, art and life!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life is a struggle, if you choose to look at it that way. I choose to see opportunities and chances to grow and learn. For me, one of the benefits of Yoga and Meditation is that I have found and comfortably live in a place of knowing that every little thing is going to be alright. Life comes and goes in waves and I just do my best to stay balanced and gracefully surf the waves. Starting a business in general has a lot of moving parts and can be easily overwhelming. Staying on top of everything, working on things. Little by little, one thing at a time. Focusing on a steady and easy energy is my game plan. I have a journal that I keep, so I have everything written down that I need to do and work on. I am constantly consulting with my network of trusted people to ensure I am doing the right things and on the right track. Doing my own research and staying as read up as possible is another way that I ensure success in my business. A personal challenge I have faced is the fact that I didn’t want to accept any money from my husband to start my business. I want to do things independently and be able to say that I did it on my own. I am using my drive, talent and determination to set my business up for success.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I offer a range of services, focusing on Yoga, Art and Life. I can help you develop a yoga and meditation practice. I can take beautiful photographs for you to cherish forever, I can paint you fun artwork, I can bake you a cake, I can make you a t-shirt to wear to your party, I can plan your party and more. Sounds crazy, right? That’s so many different things and all kind of random. Well, I live my life unafraid and when opportunities come my way, I believe they come my way for a reason and I take them. I’ll try anything once and some things stick. As a Yoga Teacher, I offer private and group Yoga and Meditation lessons. Yoga and Meditation can be used to elevate any event and make any day memorable. I design each practice with the client in mind, which culminates in an experience that benefits the mind, body and soul.
In addition to Yoga and Meditation, I facilitate sound bath, breathing techniques, Thai Body Work, ecstatic dance parties and many other wellness activities. Private and small group lessons are available in your home or event space, at a local park or outdoor space and I have studio options available in Downtown Wylie and North Dallas. I also teach an all-levels class every Monday evening at 7:30 at AhhhMazing Life and Wellness in Downtown Wylie. As an artist, I offer many things. Photography, custom canvas work, custom vinyl t-shirts, furniture restoration. I live for creativity, I thrive in creative environments, I love expression. I love helping other people bring ideas to life. I started taking pictures when I was just a little girl.
I was about 11 years old and my cousin was getting married, I asked her if I could take pictures at her wedding and she said YES. I don’t know what I was thinking other than the fact that I just really wanted to take some pictures, I didn’t even have a camera! I knew my friend’s mom always took pictures at our basketball games with a fancy camera, so I asked her if I could borrow it and again, she said YES! I took pictures at my cousin’s wedding and have been taking pictures ever since. I am so honored to be able to capture such sacred moments in people’s lives. I am open to all things creative and love hearing every one creative ideas! Life is so beautiful and I love being able to share life with others in so many different ways.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Being alive makes me happy. I am so happy to be alive, to wake up, next to my husband and children, in our safe home, to cook breakfast, drink a hot cup of tea, take a hot shower, to be able to call my momma. I am so so happy to be typing this right now. Living my life, doing what I love, sharing things that make me happy with other people. Yoga, meditation, art and LIFE. I am so happy to be alive because the next moment is not promised. I mentioned before about me taking every opportunity that comes. I believe that life is a gift and we shouldn’t just let it pass us by. Take charge of your life, make the memory, f*ck it, just take the chance and do the thing that makes you a uncomfortable and see the adventure that unfolds! One day, we’re going to be old and we’ll look back on our life… When I look back, I want to be able to say I lived! I’m happy to be alive and by golly, I’m happy for all the wonderful blessings that come along with being alive.
