Today we’d like to introduce you to Cody Wainner.
Cody, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Well, I come from a long line of Artist, I thought I missed the gene until I discovered metal. I love all things custom and I could not afford to have anything custom made for me so I decided to try it myself and never looked back. After about ten years of doing custom metal work for myself and my friends, I got a job doing it. I worked there for a year or so before I was overwhelmed with side work that it only made sense to start my own business. So I started slow and went part-time at work. They were very supportive in my new endeavor. Eventually, I was able to go full-time on my own. I was terrified. I have mainly been working with restaurant designers and architects in the Dallas, Texas, area. I was able to hire my first employee (Robert Ed) about two years ago and it has made things much easier.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s not always smooth sailing but we just keep grinding. When we are slow, we work on making the shop more efficient. We also come up with new techniques and learn new disciplines such as woodworking, 3-D modeling etc.
Deluxe Built Fabrication – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We care about the details! We are a custom metal fabrication shop. We specialize in large scale sculptures and one of a kind custom furniture. We really like doing things that are out of the ordinary. Our shop rates are lower than other shops that do what we do.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is being able to wake up each day and going to work knowing you are going to be happy. And know that you are helping someone turn an idea into a reality.
