Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Thomas.
Hi Jade, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
A former co-worker introduced me to hot yoga as a stress reliever while experiencing a heavy workload and personal challenges. There I found peace beyond the sweat and uncomfortable postures. Being a former collegiate Track & Field athlete, yoga allows me to burn calories without aggravating old injuries and helps me stay physically fit. After practicing yoga for three years, I developed a passion which helped lead me to my purpose. I became a certified instructor teaching Hot yoga and HIIT (High Interval Intensity Training) after completing training in the Dallas area. Currently, I teach classes at a local Dallas area studio and offer personalized yoga and fitness instruction, in-person and virtual.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought challenges for many in the wellness and fitness industry. To address a big challenge for me, I have had to become more creative in my delivery with virtual training. Hands-on adjustments are a big part of my teaching style during in-person sessions. Because I am unable to provide instructions and make corrections with physical touch, I am now using more descriptive explanations to better assist my clients to safely and effectively train.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
NamasJade specializes in athletic recovery and injury prevention as the main focus, while also offering: body awareness, deep stretching, posture, fundamental mechanics, mental focus, endurance and controlled breathing techniques. As I operate within my passion, I am devoted to assisting others in their journey to better physical and mental health. I am most proud of my clients’ results to improve their health, movement, and strength. What sets me apart from others is my understanding of athletes and the fatigue that wears on our bodies. I am aware of the recovery and prevention techniques that are important to align with the specialized workouts. I develop a relationship with all my clients to better understand their needs and design their sessions to meet their fitness goals.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
One lesson I have learned is that many lack self-discipline when starting and staying on the road to becoming fit. The lack of consistent self-discipline is a major hindrance in preventing a person from achieving their fitness goals. Many are in need of that extra push to help them along their fitness journey. Self discipline has played a major part of my journey, allowing me to reach my fitness goals. By creating realistic goals and the willingness to change, I have lost over 30 lbs. I am now more physically fit and mentally powerful, as I continue my fitness journey. As a result of dealing with my own self-discipline, I now use my life lessons as a tool to help others stay focused and committed to achieving their goal of becoming fit.
