Check Out Chelsea Davis’ Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Davis.

Chelsea, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always had a passion for art and creativity my whole life. I started reading Vogue when I was 11. I was constantly inspired by the ever-changing trends and editorials. Growing up, I would try everything, even if it wasn’t in style or looked bizarre. In college, some of my sorority sisters asked for me to take them shopping and help them pick out a wardrobe in exchange, they would take me out for lunch or buy me small gifts. I would also help organize or go through their clothes for the season. I transferred universities and majors from art into Fashion around 2011. Then in 2012, I started a small closet cleaning service while working at Nordstrom as a Personal Stylist. I started getting more involved in different types of fields of the fashion industry and worked with Jan Strimple in various runway productions in 2013. I fell in love with the high of the runway from then on out. The fast-paced adrenaline you get from backstage is the greatest feeling. Having gone to my first live show the year before, being in the front is nothing compared to the feeling of working a show.

I decided to take things seriously in 2019 and start being more creative by collaborating with photographers and put my ideas out into the world. I started my own fashion styling and photography and launched my own services for wardrobe styling. Throughout the year, I expanded to runway services when producing runway shows for local boutiques. I also catered local styling, photography for boutiques and their Instagram pages. Most recently, I curated and hosted my first produced local event under my brand all during a global pandemic. This event was a 20+ small and local vendor pop-up market and fashion show benefiting a local charity. We raised money and filled seats while remaining socially distanced. This year I expanded my services to include more virtual options. Anything in-person can be made virtual. From online shopping to closet organization. I have easy options and competitive rates over anyone in the DFW. This next year, I will be collaborating with other event hosts in more fashion shows and possibly a very large scale production at the end of 2021. As well as continuing with my image consulting services to help better men and women’s confidence in their daily dress. I have always had a very big eye for branding and business and hope to continue in the small business sector. I constantly like to create and try new things.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I struggled with body image growing up as a child. I have always explored different styles and been creative, no matter the size. One of my secrets to confidence was Paris Hilton’s 2004 book Confessions of an Heiress. I read this book as a teenager and seeing such strong confidence, it helped develop my own. She explains a number of things like, “no matter what a woman looks like, if she’s confident, she’s sexy,” and never introduce your flaws, there is a time and a place. Some things in this book are outdated, but this I took with me. This was one of the small factors to my confidence boosts in my teens. This helped inspire and push me to have the drive to inspire others in the same way. I felt that I did not want others to feel the same way I ever felt and wanted them to know my secrets as well. Image consulting is such a tool that can be used to boost confidence and self-worth.
