Today we’d like to introduce you to Kamille McCollum.
Hi Kamille, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi I am Kamille McCollum, owner of BODYBAR Pilates Fort Worth, Tanlgewood, and Plano. I am also the COO of BODYBAR Franchising. My husband Matt McCollum is my business partner and best friend. We have three beautiful daughters and live in Fort Worth, Texas. Let me tell you a little about our journey with opening up our first studio. We were looking for the next chapter in our life, had always wanted to own our own business – specifically in the health and wellness space. Having previously visited a BODYBAR studio in the Dallas area before moving to Fort Worth, they struggled to find a similar, high-intensity Pilates workout. BODYBAR’s was simply unmatched! So, when we discovered the brand was looking to franchise in Fort Worth, we jumped on the opportunity. Little did we know, our journey with BODYBAR was only just beginning. Our success with our first studio in Fort Worth off University and 7th Street instilled confidence in BODYBAR’s then Franchisor to approach us about taking over executive leadership of franchising, an offer we accepted in June 2019. We have franchise partners all over the U.S. now and we opened our second Fort Worth studio in August of 2020 and purchased the Plano studio on January 1, 2021. Before entering business ownership with BODY BAR, I worked as a special education and math teacher in Mesquite, TX. I love connecting with and helping others be the best they can be.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
When we opened our first BODY BAR studio, we got off to a good start; however, we couldn’t get our name out to the community fast enough. We hit a wall about four months in and stayed there for about the first year. We then found a partner that helped us with digital marketing and creating a sales process, which got more people in our doors to experience this amazing workout!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I wear a few different hats in my work life. I am the COO of BODY BAR Franchising, in which I help support current franchisees and help lead our service team in their support of our franchise partners. I still teach one class a week at our 7th Street studio, which is one of my favorite things to do! I also help support my studio managers at our locations in order to help them best run each location. I am most proud of the community and family feel that we have built among the members and staff at BODY BAR Fort Worth and Plano. Relationships are so important to me and I believe when you put love and light out into the world, it will come back to you and that is what I have seen in our BODY BAR Family!
What makes you happy?
My family and friends, whether by blood or by choice, relationships make me happy! I love laughing and having fun at home, at work, or in class with my friends. I think those who know me well would say I enjoy good company.
