Meet Paula Edwards

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paula Edwards.

Hi Paula, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was a Physical Education teacher in Plano ISD for 21 years and, prior to that, six years in Ohio. I was driving back and forth every day from Farmersville to Plano to teach but I loved being with the children so it made it worth the trip most of the time. In June 2018, I became eligible to retire so I did hesitately, I knew I’d miss the children but not that 70 minutes in the car each day. I would need a hobby and I had waited tables all through high school and college, so the idea and dream started there. My husband, Brian, found the building in downtown Farmersville and completely gutted it with our son and we officially opened it in August 2018.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Our biggest and most difficult struggle has been this past year with Covid-19. We started 2020 with great numbers and things were looking awesome for us, then the pandemic hit and everything started to crumble… Luckily, our friends and the sweet town of Farmersville kept us going with curbside, delivery, and take out. We even had people order take out and eat in our back parking lot while social distancing.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a full-service restaurant and bar. We specialize in home-cooking, comfort food, steaks, and burgers. We are a scratch kitchen with most of our recipes being family recipes. We pride ourselves on “the best local service of satisfying food at a fair price”. We want people to be happy when they leave here and want to come back and bring their friends. We have Live Music every Thursday night with artists from all over Texas. This has been a huge plus for Farmersville.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I wouldn’t call myself a risk taker but my husband definitely is and with him behind me, I tend to be more of one. For example, when Covid hit, I would have closed the doors but Brian was right there to come up with another idea or solution to keep things hopping. There is no giving up… you fight back!
