Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Christian.
Hi Elizabeth, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
At a young age, I’ve found a deep interest in becoming a fashion model or starting my business for others to invent their own style with my brand. Three years ago from today, I initially launched my eyewear business. I saved enough money to purchase at least three different styles to sell to my potential female customers. I designed my business logo and website from scratch to be authentic. Originally, my brand colors were pink and marble aesthetic for females only. Also, I planned out a marketing strategy and the goal of how much revenue I wanted to bring in. Unfortunately, I did not make any sales, which caused me to take a break from my business and focus on college at the moment.
Towards the end of 2020, I reinvented my website, changed my business logo, my brand colors, and saved up enough money to purchase a large bulk order. My reason for rebranding my entire business was because I wanted to fit the needs of every gender, not just females. By doing so, I created four new eyewear collections; ‘Diamond Collection, Vintage Collection, Kat-Eye Collection, and Men’s Collection.’ On my website, it shows at least 4-5 styles of each collection for my customers to choose from and shop the design that fits them perfectly! As I continue to grow my business, I am always striving for an opportunity that will benefit my future. Currently, I have three collaborations with famous Instagram/Tik-Tok Makeup Artist Influencers that are featuring my eyewear styles and posting their videos on social media feed.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Starting a business is challenging, especially when I started at eighteen years old while attending college. Some challenges I’ve had with my online business starting off was finding a unique name, business colors, and my logo. At first, my original business name was ‘Lizgotti’s Boutique,’ but as I thought deeper towards the future, I would like to own multiple businesses under that specific name. However, I named my online shop ‘ Eyewear Gotti’s’ because in the name it means ‘I Wear Gotti’s.’ In my business name, it has a part of my authentic style and it is something catchy for my customers. I became frustrated because I was investing an incredible amount of income and not increasing any sales. I spent a lot of money to build my website and purchase inventory. Eventually, it got too stressful, which resulted in me taking time off from my business and focus on earning my Associate of Science Degree at Dallas College.
We’ve been impressed with Eyewear Gotti’s, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Launching my business as a Young Black female and College Student sets me apart from everyone else because I strive for greatness no matter the cost or the difficulty. I built my business for Men and Women to bring out the persona that makes them unique! I enjoy seeing my customers happy with their orders and being comfortable in their own skin. I set my business at a high standard for myself and my customers! Eyewear Gotti’s is a Black-Owned Brand that is established for every gender, culture, and age to create their own style!
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory would dress up with my sister and creating our own experience of a ‘runway show!’ It is always a remarkable memory that I will cherish forever because I consider my older sister to be a role model who supports me with everything I do in life. I confide in my older sister because I know deep down inside that she will never steer me wrong. We’ve always had a strong relationship with each other, and I believe that is something everyone should have!
