Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaiah Hickson.
Isaiah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Corrie Isaiah Hickson, aka Isaiah Hickson. I was raised in Dallas, Texas near Kiest and Westmoreland. I try to paint a picture and that you can feel with every word that I say because I have seven children who look up to me to tell my truth. I was raised by my mother and stepfather, who tried their best to give my siblings and I all that they could. After losing my daughter a few years ago I decided that I would no longer only talk about my pain but about my journey as a whole and that no matter what, I would give my fans something they can relate to and remember.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely hasn’t been an easy road with me growing up the way that I did. I already had trust issues with people so those emotions mixed with being in and out of jail and losing my child made me fall back from music for a little while to find my true passion. Now I understand that this game is not about pure talent, it’s about the whole package. Good music, communication, integrity and understanding that overall music can take you beyond your wildest dreams if you step right so that what I’m doing. Stepping the Hicksonville way.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart is everything that I do is authentic. There is no gimmick or game with my penmanship. I really put my heart into my music and I feel that I know how to make music sound good. There’s nothing about my life that isn’t in my music and that in itself, I feel, creates the essence of what it means to come to Hicksonville.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
The best advice that I can give people is to study the market. Get your catalog ready and make sure that your music actually sounds good!
