Meet Tasha Hinton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tasha Hinton.

Hi Tasha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a believer, wife, and boy mom born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. I am my mother’s only child and the eldest child of my father. My mother had me at 18 years old so my grandmother played a major role in my upbringing. As strong women, they instilled in me from a young age to be an independent thinker and to pave my own way. I grew up in a very humble area so my mother – realizing the value of education, bused me to the best schools in the city. I was often one of the only children of color in my classes and realized early on the kind of life I wanted to have and that I would have to work twice as hard to get it. I have always had big dreams and extremely high expectations for myself. These expectations have been both a blessing and curse as I can be way hard on myself!

By the age of 24 years old, I had my Bachelors, Masters, and flipped my first property. I was always fascinated by real estate- from design to investing and made a plan in my early twenties that by the time I became a mom, I wanted to have my real estate license so I could pursue my passion and be hands-on with my children. I met my husband at 26 years old. We first laid eyes on each other at LifeTime Fitness, where I was a member and he worked as a Personal Trainer. It wasn’t until months later that we ran into each in a social setting that we had a conversation and exchanged numbers. The rest is history. We moved to the Dallas area in 2012 and have been married almost eight years now! Growing up, I never attended childcare so I always knew I wanted to be a very hands-on mom. After having our first child, I returned to my former career in higher education administration while juggling raising our son full-time without childcare. I was stretched so thin trying to do it all.

My husband runs his own fitness business and would take our infant with him while teaching boot camps and I would work from home a couple of days a week so we made it work. While pregnant with my second son, I obtained my Texas Real Estate license and left my corporate career to embark on life as a stay-at-home mom after he was born. Best decision ever! While staying home with my children, I started blogging and making custom home goods. I am passionate about writing and exercising creativity. I spend majority of my days raising babies but now that they are getting a little older, I am diving more into building my real estate business. While I LOVE staying home and raising my children, I realized that I desire to have something for myself. It was an adjustment going from having a busy career to staying home full-time and my mental health started to suffer. So I dusted off that real estate license and I have been busy focusing on building my brand while raising my children and I am loving every minute of it! Now, I am a busy wife and mom of three active little boys under five (Asher, Declan, and Ezra) whom I care for full-time while building my real estate business.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at ALL. I have struggled so much throughout my life with understanding my true purpose and believing in myself. This has led to a lot of second-guessing decisions and is something I have to actively work at to get out of my own head and pursue things I am passionate about. Getting to the point to believe in the goal is always my struggle but one constant about me is once I set my mind to something, there is no turning back! It is not often I do not achieve the goal once it’s set. Additionally, being a stay at home mom is hands-down the hardest job I have ever had. While I wouldn’t have it any other way, it has been trying on me mentally which is why I think it is very important that women continue to pursue something they are passionate about. Motherhood is a hard job whether you choose to work full-time outside of the home, stay home full time, or try do both like I am doing now. I’ve done them all and there is no right or wrong way to do it as long as you are raising happy and healthy children!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a stay-at-home mom, DFW Realtor and small shop owner. I am known for my ability to negotiate, my knowledge of the North Dallas burbs/new construction market, and customer service. My business is primarily referral-based so I pride myself in going above and beyond to make my clients feel like family, striving to build a lifelong relationship. I am very proud of being a modern-day mompreneur- I believe that is what they are calling full-time moms who also are building businesses these days, haha 😉 I believe what sets me apart is that I am not like everyone else. I bring a level of genuineness that is hard to find. It is not all about the money for me – it is truly a passion and because of that passion, my clients WIN with me on their team whether they are buying, selling, investing, or leasing!

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t really believe in luck. As a Christ-follower, I believe anything I have achieved came from God’s hand being on my life from the start. It is my faith in the most high God that I am who I am and have been able to get to this point.
