Today we’d like to introduce you to Fred T. Williams.
Hi Fred, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
“Bright-eyed and full of hope” is what my mom used to always say regarding me. That’s been me my entire life. I’m an author, speaker, poet, life coach, business strategist, and serial entrepreneur on a mission to empower people to grow better and do greater in every area and aspect of their life and/or business. I have been referred to as a rising voice on faith, purposeful living, healthy relationships, love, and brand development. I’ve also been fortunate enough to speak nationally and internationally.
My journey has been an endless rollercoaster ride. From burying my mom, who passed when I was 17 due to complications from breast cancer, to being uprooted from my home to go and live with a father I never knew, to being homeless in the city of Chicago at the age of 19, to now having businesses that operate in multiple states and so on; it’s been an epic journey. This entire process of pain and growth has produced in me a powerful way of genuinely connecting with people. The level of wisdom I’ve gained from my mistakes and my journey, as a whole, not only changed my life but continues to change the lives of all those that I encounter, whether it be by way of hearing me speak, reading my writings, hiring me, or working with any of my businesses. I have taken the lessons I’ve learned in pain and used them to help push people into their God-designed promise. I use all of my gifts, talents, and abilities to help me live out my life mission to help all those I can to “grow better and do greater.”
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has definitely not been a smooth one. I’ve had a few challenges along the way. One of the biggest challenges for me was learning my value and the value of my products and services. I had become so accustomed to being the “go-to” person for so many and in so many ways to the point that I put everything and everyone else before myself and my own needs. I watched so many thrive at my expense while I slowly died. This problem was present not only in my personal relationships but my professional ones as well. I was more interested in making the client comfortable that I would skew my pricing to their comfort. That was not good.
In return, I ran a business that never saw a profit and I was completely overworked. I had to learn how to manage my time, price my services, and create healthy boundaries. I had to learn to say “no.” That seems to be a problem for so many. We can tend to take on more than we should because of our desire to help everyone. But I learned (after many sleepless nights, constant migraines, and a fight with depression) that I can only do so much. It’s like being on an airplane. They instruct you (in case of an emergency and the oxygen masks are deployed) to secure your mask to your face first and then help someone else. I was so focused on helping others and didn’t even realize I hadn’t even helped myself. I had to unlearn that behavior and learn self-love and self-care. I’m grateful for spiritual leaders, mentors, and coaches who always challenged me when it came to realizing my worth and truly actualizing my potential.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
First Thing: Be intentional in working on yourself. Don’t be afraid to look in the mirror and actually deal with the person that you see and not the person you pretend to be. The sooner you begin to truly deal with yourself in every aspect, the sooner you will find the synergy that’s necessary to create a successful life. Be intentional in developing your skills, your voice, and your platform. Second Thing: Be tenacious in the pursuit of your goals and dreams. I know sometimes they can seem absolutely beyond your reach, but if you do something every single day to work towards them, then that means you are moving closer to them each day. Understand that there is no such thing as overnight success. Success and sensation are not the same things. So never give up. Be tenacious in your learning. Be tenacious in your pursuit of growth.
