Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Cain.
Hi Natalie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello Everyone, my name is Natalie Nicole Michelle Cain and I am the CEO and founder of Thee Chrysalis Effect. This business was inspired by own personal journey. I have always engaged in fitness when it came to sports like basketball or volleyball but I initially started my actual fitness journey back in 2014 when I realized my weight was constantly increasing. It was very challenging for me because I also suffered from a condition known as irritable bowel syndrome, which affects my large intestine, in turn, my food consumption. To top it off, in 2016, I experienced one of the most devastating times of my life, in which my health drastically declined and the prescribed medicines that were supposed to cure me had adverse side effects. As a result, I received all Incompletes at my university, my body was filled with toxins, and mentally I was drained.
This leads me to two options, stay in the sunken place or RISE. I found myself constantly thinking about an excerpt from my father’s favorite poem, “IF by Rudyard Kipling,” “If you can fill the unforgiving minute with 60 seconds distance run, yours is the earth and everything that’s in it”. Determined to rise, I started meal prepping, working out, and developing relationships with professionals and becoming more involved in the community. Along the way, I discovered I was not alone in facing mental and physical health issues. This inspired me to start the business that I am presenting to you all today in hopes to address the mental and physical health issues that have affected me and many others. I was sick of these things ruining the life I was working so hard to create for myself and the lives of the ones I loved. After going through significant health transformations, I started testing and designing products and services that would help individuals with their weight loss/health struggle. Through my volunteer and work experiences, I have been able to grow and develop a better understanding of the importance of providing service to my community. I love being in atmospheres where I am able to motivate, connect, empower, advocate, and encourage resilience amongst others. Ultimately, I take great pride in serving as a leader and providing service to my community. I desire to make a difference and positive impact in the world in a way that will spread compassion, aid in healing communities, promote and provide the necessary tools to enhance the wellbeing and quality of life for families who are impacted by social disadvantages. I believe that a chance to inspire another human being to learn is not just an opportunity; it’s a challenge and I ACCEPT! Welcome to Thee Chrysalis Effect…
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some of the struggles I have faced along the way include but not limited to: Finding quality vendors – Funding – Knowing who to trust with my business visions for help – I have a degree in social work and did not know how to run a business, I just knew I was passionate about executing my vision and helping people – Finding good mentors – Working a demanding job and trying to run a business, such as be consistent with creating and pushing content – After college, trying to build stability for myself and run a business is by far the hardest – Finding dependable people to push the business.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

In the food industry there are many tactics used to generate income and sustain customers. Fast food corporations tend to have their businesses located in communities that primarily consist of lower-class families and individuals. In turn, these families and individuals become attached to their products which are specifically designed to be addictive. The contributing factors of convenience, accessibility, and affordable prices enable health conditions. Unfortunately, these circumstances have aided the increase in a number of illnesses that are plaguing our country. Fresh Food disparities are a major issue and are an injustice to the many citizens of this community and the [NEXT]. A lack of healthy and affordable food options contributes to many of the diseases that African Americans suffer from today. -Diabetes, -Heart Disease, and – Obesity are a few common and most deadly health risks that are associated with the African American community. In efforts to address and decrease these limitations set before us, THEE CHRYSALIS EFFECT will be expanding as we prepare to EDUCATE, MOTIVATE, and GET PERSONAL a whole new level. _ REMEMBER, we can only HEAL what we’re willing to REVEAL. ✍🏾 _ Healthier Individuals| Healthier Families |Healthier Communities. 🤝
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
One of the mottos that I like to use to encourage myself and others to take risk is that “you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”. People fear risk because they can’t see if that risk will be successful but that’s why it’s called a risk. I believe that if we change our perspective on risk, then there is a way to always win. You’ll either win or learn but you can’t make any progress if you don’t make any progress AKA take risk. There have been times when I have purchased big bulks of inventory, in which there was a huge possibility that I may not see my return on investments due to me moving from the place where I originally started my business. North Carolina and Wisconsin were where most of my support for my business came from, so now that I was in Dallas, Texas, I was a little nervous about buying a lot of inventory. However, I told myself that I’d rather take a risk in doing something I believe in then to play it safe.
