Hi Anthony, so great to have you join us again. For folks who might have missed our earlier conversations, can you please take a minute to briefly introduce yourself?
My name is Anthony Santiago, I’m an abstract painter. Been painting/ drawing/ sketching for as long as I can remember. I feel painting for me is a way to pull feelings and thoughts out onto canvas. I like to feel with my eyes within my art. Each piece is a part of me. To see is to feel within the realm of time.
How have you stayed engaged lately?
Mid 2019 to now really took a toll on so many and for myself it stopped my sales but with that time I was able to spend longer on my piece’s and I really have shifted different aspects of my works. Time gave me moments to reflect inward and motivate myself and now my wife has started painting so doing it together with the kids has been great.
Where have you been finding your inspiration?
Really have been researching artists from times past and going to more museums and within that it fires my soul to create. My wife gives me inspiration to create also.
What do you do to get out of a rut?
I spend sometimes hours with a record playing or music on just staring at a blank canvas and the music pulls feeling and helps pull me out of a rut for sure.
What is your go to music/vibe while painting? Creating?
I love music and I’ll throw on some soul music or dig into some emo vibes. Feeling a lot of different genre s lately never just playing just one type of music.
How do you juggle your work /life/ painting balance?
A lot is a way to unwind at the end of the day or just to relax with the wife painting together. Kids love to create as well so that makes it fun doing it as a family.
What do you hope for in the creative sector in your state /city?
I can’t wait for more art festivals to happen I want that so bad. So many creatives have come from the fact that we have all been at home in some shape or form and it has made lots of people go back to artistic abilities that they put on hold for so long.
