Life & Work with Taylor Davidson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Davidson.

Hi Taylor, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always loved music and would always sing around my house, but it wasn’t until I sang in my fourth-grade talent show when I really discovered how much I love to preform. After that, I started taking voice lessons and practicing guitar and fell in love with songwriting. When I was twelve, I started going door to door at local restaurants and coffee shops with promotional posters, determined on landing gigs. I am so grateful to the places that took a chance on little twelve-year-old me because that’s how everything started. I even named my guitar after the very first restaurant that I played at years ago. Since then, I have been preforming at festivals, events, and other venues all over Texas. I released my first debut single, “Lonely,” In June of 2020 and “Lighting Matches” in October 2020. My music journey has been filled with ups and downs, but I’m so excited for what the future holds.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the struggles that I have experienced along the way is finding other people that do the same thing I do. Where I live, there aren’t as many local artists to talk to about the hardships that come along with being a musician. For instance, in school, if you’re on a sports team, you have your teammates. If you’re in a band or theater, you are surrounded with people who understand what you’re going through. As an artist its a little harder to find people that you can relate to when navigating the music industry.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a singer-songwriter that writes all about the trials and tribulations of life as a teenage girl. I play guitar and preform, and I love connecting with people through music. I tell stories in my songs and talk about experiences that I have been through that I hope others can relate to. I have released two songs, “Lonely” and “Lighting Matches,” that I love but I’m also very excited and proud of the unreleased songs that are going to be on my upcoming Ep this spring. These songs are very special to me, and I’m so excited to share them.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
One of the biggest ongoing lessons I’ve been learning is that if you love something, never give up on it. Sometimes life can be discouraging, and as a musician, you hear a lot of no’s before you hear a yes. I am learning to grow from my mistakes and use them to get better. It sounds cheesy, but I encourage everyone to follow their dreams because if it’s something that you love, its worth fighting for.
