Rising Stars: Meet Amanda Dyer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Dyer.

Hi Amanda, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My interest in fashion started when I was just six years young, peeling and sticking the clothes off my paper dolls. Talk about back in the day! And soon, my interest in fashion turned into a love and appreciation for the actual art of it. I have dedicated so many years of my life and focused on primarily being a mom, wife, friend and working full time… that it wasn’t until a couple of years ago that I was finally able to put my endearment and love for fashion to the forefront of my life and start putting myself out to the world as a fashion lover, creator and overall enthusiast to help influence other women who may need help in this area.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Absolutely not! (Lol) if it was a smooth road, then it wouldn’t be much of a journey, then would it? Most of my struggles have been with myself… still learning to get out of my own head. Even though one of my favorite mottos is to “wear whatever you want and that makes you feel good”. Fashion is so visual and most if not all of my content is going to be placed on social media platforms so that self-doubt of whether or not my audience will like my content does creep up every now and again ya know? But I know there are a great amount of women out there who do need and enjoy my content, so I post anyway. As creators, we can sometimes be our biggest critics, so the struggle is still there, but I have ways to counter it. 😉

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Being a mom and wife, I feel like oftentimes there are these stipulations of what we are “suppose” to wear. My lifestyle is never the same day in and day out. I hang out with friends, me and hubby have date nights, my boys have sports events, I gotta run errands constantly and one style of “what to wear” is NOT enough for me! So my content shows women how you can have different styles and still be fashionable and not look ‘crazy’ like your lifestyle if that makes sense lol from heels and dresses to joggers and sneakers… I share content on it all and encourage women to break those mama and wife fashion misconceptions without breaking your pockets. Anyone who knows my content knows I love shopping affordable brands, but keeping in mind the quality of the items and that I have more of a ‘basic’ aesthetic approach to my fashion content and what I wear. Basic meaning, not so much of patterned items in my wardrobe, but basic in terms of having a set color palette. This expands your combination of pairing tops and bottoms together while also increasing outfit selections and it actually cuts down on time having to pick an outfit… which is important for women with my lifestyle. It is such a joy to inspire and share my fashion advice and outfit ideas and reach women all over the world! I thrive off the feedback and questions from the women I reach and inspire. “Omg, I didn’t know these two colors could go together!”, “Where can I get those jeans?”, “What should I wear for a night out on the town?”… These comments and questions alone are what make me proud. I’ve also recently expanded my content to beauty and tips/ideas to get great photos.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Fashion content-wise, I’ve definitely learned to use this time to my advantage! Once COVID really became serious, my 9-5 job became 100% remote, so the time and flexibility that I did not have before… I have it now. So content and ideas have been flowing consistently, engagement is through the roof, I’m getting more done, I’m more creative, this time has been interesting for sure. Personal wise, I’ve learned to enjoy and spend more time with the people who matter most to me and cherish them while we have them because we never know what the future holds.
