Inspiring Conversations with Sparkle Harris

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sparkle Harris.

Hi Sparkle, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Starting in the real estate field is not something that happened by chance. Over the years, I have purchased new construction and pre-existing homes in the DFW metroplex, and I started to fall in love with the home buying process. I have a friend that was building a new home and was feeling overwhelmed with the new construction process. She was especially apprehensive about going to the design studio. She reached out to me for my advice, and I was able to explain the process and ease her worries. When we were finishing up our discussion, she said, “Sparkle, you need to be a Real Estate Agent” That was my “aha moment”! It was then that I realized I could use my firsthand knowledge as my niche in the industry. I jumped right in, took the pre-licensing courses, studied and passed my licensing exam. Becoming a REALTOR® has been fulfilling. There is such satisfaction in doing what you enjoy, and this is where I find myself at the moment.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have been some bumps along my journey. I learned very quickly that you need to have thick skin and to set boundaries. In real estate, there is a crazy amount of ghosting. The person who seemed like they would employ your services today will be the same person avoiding your calls in the next hour. However, that is just how business is in this industry and you cannot take it personal. I also had to overcome being a secret agent. I was a licensed REALTOR® but know one knew. I quickly learned the key to my success is to always be talking about my business. Now, I always find a way to chip real estate in my conversations because you never know who may become a client or give you a referral. Another struggle was wrapping my mind around the amount of time needed for marketing and creating a social media presence. You must have a schedule and commit to posting relevant content daily. Also, I needed to spend money to market myself. I spent $100 on one Facebook ad that led me to a client that closed in thirty days on a bend new home. Lastly, I had to invest in finding the right mentor for my business goals and surround myself with positive and successful industry players. Although the road has not been easy, this journey has been joyful, and just that a journey.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a REALTOR® in the Dallas, Fort Worth area and I service the entire metroplex. I match buyers with their forever homes and investors with investment properties. I also work with sellers to obtain the highest value when selling their homes. I am known for working with first time home buyers and buyers seeking new construction. It is my passion to find my clients the best deal. As a Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation (TSAHC), participating REALTOR®, I have worked closely with first-time homebuyers to obtain down payment assistance. I also purchased my very first home using the TSACH down payment assistance program. I was able to build a new home with significant savings by coupling the down payment assistance program with the builder’s incentives. I honestly believe it my commitment to service that sets me apart from other agents. I strive for excellence in all interactions. If I am not providing great customer service and meeting my clients’ needs, then I am failing, and I don’t like to fail. I love what I do. There so many benefits to owning a home including, tax deductions and intangible benefits such as pride of ownership and belonging to a community. I also enjoy being a homeowner and the importance of owning a home can never be downplayed.
