Today we’d like to introduce you to Dwayne White.
Hi Dwayne, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Instant Imprints – West Plano is led by owners Dwayne and Karen White. Dwayne has a BBA degree in Mktg. After graduation, the first 30 years were in various Sales roles… in which the last ten years he served in an Executive Sales Leadership capacity. During this tenure, he’s been awarded Top performer multiple times (most recently leading a team responsible for $300M in sales to Annual High Achiever status). He’s an effective P&L manager with the ability to read & tweak financial inputs with the intent of driving maximum profitability.
Karen is an accomplished business owner with a BS degree in Clothing & Costume design. She’s had success with designing and selling ladies & children’s apparel. In recent years, the majority of her activity has been focused on custom embroidery for individuals and small groups.
The skill sets of both Karen and Dwayne created a solid foundation for driving a successful business. After extensive search for a business in which they could leverage their respective skill sets, they decided to open Instant Imprints of West Plano in Nov. of 2018. In a little over two years in business, they’ve built a business with solid growth (despite Pandemic challenges), and more importantly, have delivered on their vision of exceptional Customer Service. I called Instant Imprints on Thursday morning and my custom shirt was ready for pickup Friday morning! The quality of the printing is superb, but the customer service is what really sold me! I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It certainly hasn’t been a smooth road. Managing thru the complexities of balancing various functions (Production, Operations, HR, Mktg., Finance, etc.) has presented unique challenges along the way. Each day is unique in presenting a different set of challenges; however, our desire is to ensure that we keep “Customer Satisfaction” as our #1 goal as we work on structures/processes to overcome those challenges.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Instant Imprints – West Plano offers customers (businesses & consumers) a variety of options for managing their imaging needs on apparel, signage, literature, and promotional items. During the design stage, the customer has the ability to choose from an extensive library of existing images, supply their own image, or have an artist create an image for them. The orders will be generated from multiple revenue streams (embroidery, print screen, direct to garment, print services, signs and banners, heat transfers, and promotional items). Order fulfillment will come from both in-house product and outsourcing (depending on piece size). This allows us to effectively balance customer needs and business profitability. Most other competitors focus primarily on a single revenue stream while outsourcing everything else. The diversity of services offered by Instant Imprints – West Plano provides us with a competitive advantage.
We also have the ability to leverage proprietary software (Design Center & Customer Stores), which allows consumers to use a custom online service for their organizational or personal printing needs. With our online marketing solutions, the customer can: Ensure Brand Consistency & Integrity, Manage Marketing Collateral, Streamline Ordering, Control Spending, Reward Staff & Clients. Our ability to leverage various services provides a One-Stop solution for our client base.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Although we advertise our wide range of services, most clients that we engage with don’t have a full understanding of everything that we offer. Whether there’s a need for one T-Shirt or a need for extensive lighted building signage…we’re amenable to providing our clients with all printing services.
