Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasna Boudard.
Hi Jasna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started Travel Weddings about six years ago, after traveling to Asia for a friend’s wedding. It was such an incredible experience that I decided traveling and documenting weddings of all cultures is what I wanted and needed to do with my life. Upon starting my new career, I was fortunate to capture multiple amazing weddings across Bangladesh, Japan, France, Costa Rica, and eventually settled in the USA. I am originally French and Bangladeshi and had a multicultural wedding with my husband, which made me decide to niche and focus on serving multicultural couples. I was based in New York City for the past five years, juggling both graduate school and my wedding business. When the pandemic hit, it was tough times in New York but it gave me the opportunity to seek out a fresh start in a new city with a big multicultural population: Dallas, Texas! I am happily serving my dream clients again and with the world returning to normal, Travel Weddings will soon be traveling for weddings again! https://travel-
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The pandemic was definitely a major struggle, as not only the wedding industry was impacted but traveling, in general, came to a stop! I had to cancel the majority of my gigs as they were scheduled abroad, and it’s been hard to pick up that momentum since. Most wedding photographers serve a local market, whereas my audience depended mainly on word of mouth from actively traveling and shooting destination weddings. I certainly hope things go back to normal, but in the meanwhile, I’m really enjoying shooting multicultural weddings and portrait sessions in Dallas.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Weddings around the world often incorporate a lot of colors and unique traditions. Visually, my work is more vibrant than the current trends of muted sepia tones that many photographers use. I focus on capturing the joy, energy, and cultural nuances of each wedding story. Since I mainly serve multicultural couples, my clients also hire me for my international experience and sensibility. I speak four languages fluently (English, French, Spanish, Bangla, and a little Japanese), and sometimes even help my clients plan their wedding!
Other than my wedding photography and videography business, I also use cameras for creative work. I’m a multi-media artist specializing in projection arts. I create immersive video installations, movement-based projects, and travel series, which I have exhibited around the world. Who else deserves credit in your story?
If there’s one person who contributed the most to my success, it’s my husband. He’s been with me throughout this journey and supported me every step of the way. Without his help, encouragement, and belief in what I do, I would have never gotten this far. Being an entrepreneur and business owner is not easy, so I am extremely blessed and grateful to have a partner who continuously cheers me on.
I am also grateful to my wonderful clients. I know that wedding photography is a big investment so I appreciate the trust they placed in me, even when I was just starting out. Every time I travel to a new destination or document a new culture, I feel like I’m living a dream, so I am incredibly humbled to have such a beautiful and rewarding career thanks to them.
