Hi Juan, so great to have you join us again. For folks who might have missed our earlier conversations, can you please take a minute to briefly introduce yourself?
Have you ever rapped to your dogs in the rain? I have and thats where my journey began. When I was little I would spend hours in my yard just rapping whatever came to mind. I still do rap about whatever comes to mind or whatever else life throws at me!! I make music in hopes that you’ll relate to the subject matter or content. If you do than we in this together homie!! If not, than you’re just listening to the wrong song by me. Put it on another one and enjoy the lyrics of JS
What inspires you the most?
If you want me to answer that honestly I would have to say struggles and tribulations. We all go through things in life. Some people vent to other people. I vent to beats and have made some of my best songs during the worst of times
Who is someone who has had a big impact on your music?
Can I name two people? Tupac Shakur and my best friend Matthew Booker may they both rest in peace. Tupac inspired me to put my emotions into my lyrics and Matt gave me the confidence I needed to tell people I even did music. If it wasn’t for him I probably wouldn’t even have the confidence to do an interview like this.
What sets your music apart from other artists?
Rapping about materialistic things can get old. Not the mention those things depreciate after you buy them. I like to make music about real life struggles hoping that my lyrics hit home to what you’re going through at the time
Do you see other artists as competition?
Hell to the naw!!! For what? Only person I’m in competition with is me. Why make music comparing yourself to other artists when we’re all unique in our own ways?
What do you define as success?
In my opinion, you don’t have to be famous to be successful and you don’t have to be successful to be famous. Success to me is when you’ve accomplished the goals you’ve set for yourself and have also motivated others to do the same if not better.
