Today we’d like to introduce you to Jakari Jones.
Hi Jakari, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I feel I got started because I had what I called a failed business attempt and I knew I still wanted something that I could call my own. While on social media I began to see a lot of people talk about wanting to have picnics, or going on picnics. It was all things picnic and then a great idea came to my mind and I expanded on it. I knew I was taking a huge risk because of that previous business I had given up on but I was determined to be successful in this business venture. For a week, I brainstormed, prayed, and created an action plan that would set me on the right path. Starting on this new journey has been a great experience so far, I’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback and support. Of course I am not where I want to be, but I am extremely optimistic about the journey ahead.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
So far, business has been off to a slow start. I believe that the biggest challenge is awareness and making the service known. A goal of mine is to have my business promoted on every social media platform. Aside from those challenges, my main struggles are fear of failure and being easily discouraged. However, I am challenging myself to not become so discouraged because I know that all great things take time to come into fruition. The fear of the unknown sometimes holds me back from reaching my greatest potential, but I’m learning to embrace the lessons learned from failure.
As you know, we’re big fans of Amazing Graze Charcuterie. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We provide customized charcuterie boxes and boards for special occasions such as picnics, housewarming’s, baby showers, and much more! We also cater to all diets and yes, we are vegan friendly! We offer pick-up and free delivery within a 10-mile radius. Oh, and did I mention we’re food handlers certified?!
What sets me apart from others is the high level of customer service I provide and my attention to details. I believe that customers make or break a business and it’s important to my business to ensure customer satisfaction. Also, being attentive allows for a more productive and efficient flow of business.
I am most proud that my business is unique and focuses heavily on product quality. Every box and board is customized and crafted with care. As my business grows, I want people to know I am a woman and manage a black-owned business that prides itself on excellent customer service, having the freshest quality of product and repeat customers. So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is maintaining a good work-life balance. Running a business takes time, patience, and dedication. It is imperative that I maintain this balance while also being a full time parent. As an independent mother, it has been a challenge to find a balance between work and motherhood. There have been times where work has taken time away from my child, but I know the sacrifices I’m making will be worth it in the end. I strive to be a good role model for my daughter, while positively impacting the life of every person I encounter. Although this has been a challenging time in my life, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
She is always watching and learning so, I want to instill within her what it means to be kind and respectful to others regardless of their race, gender preference, or disability. I want her to know that with hard work, determination, and discipline, she can achieve anything that she sets her mind to do.
