Today we’d like to introduce you to DFW Lights.
Hi DFW Lights, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
DFW Lights is a collective of local artists, ministers, rappers, and other creatives who heard the call to unify and responded in obedience. We believe unity is the Father’s heart, and as the Lord used our leaders Shine and Harvest, to bring everyone together, we have been tasked with defeating the giant “division” which sits comfortably enthroned in the Body of Christ. From the first century A.D. until now, the church has been battling the forces of evil to keep believers waging war on darkness from a united front. The Lord Jesus, who said, “And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand,” (Mark 3:24-25), and the apostle Paul who said, “I appeal to you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment,” (1 Corinthians 1:10), both set the standard for the church to follow. Yet, 20 centuries later, the church is splintered into over 33,000 factions and denominations, which ought not be so.
DFW Lights has been commissioned by God to answer this travesty by producing music, ministry, preaching, teaching, and other media aimed at exposing the septic nature of division and the healing prowess of unity. We are currently producing a docu-video which will include seven music videos, sermonettes, and spoken word. We will be hosting the Unity in The Community Picnic/Video Shoot Saturday, June 26th, from 10 am to 4 pm at Huffhines Park in Richardson, Texas, where our second of the seven videos will be recorded.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, not at all. Considering the spiritual nature of unity and the carnal nature of humanity, this road has presented us with every obstacle one normally encounters going against the current of the world for the Kingdom of God. From having four of our members going through the process of quarantine due to the Covid-19 protocol to losing three of our members to division itself, we have been faced with a myriad of challenges yet are committed to endure to the completion of the mission. We believe, as per Scripture, we are soldiers in the Army of the Lord so we expect the warfare to rage while we work to please the Father with victory.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Our professional careers range from our Leader Shine having 25 years of ministerial experience finishing his second degree in ministerial leadership. Harvest working for the FDA with and M.B.A., to other members who litter the DFW workforce.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
We depend on the will of God revealed in the written Word of God. Luck has no place in the walk of faith. God says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord…” (Ps.37:23), so we believe God’s providence guides our lives daily.
