Today we’d like to introduce you to Carl Fendley.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Carl Fendley and this is a story on how my wife and I started our staffing company at the worst time in American History and somehow is coming out of the other side looking like a winner. Amerifen Solutions LLC was an idea my wife and I had. The idea came about after the hurricane in Louisiana in 2020. There was a mad scramble to find workers to go and clean up the area. I have always enjoyed writing resumes and helping friends and family find jobs.
My wife is from Venezuela. She moved to the US back in 2018 because she saw the country was collapsing in on itself due to the hyperinflation. She is an architect by trade. In Venezuela, my wife and her family ran a successful construction business. We married in May 2019. So she and I wanted to find a business that we could start without having to invest a ton of money. So we decided to try our hand in the staffing world. So in late November 2020, we filed our LLC with the state of Texas and obtained everything we needed to start our business and jumped feet first into staffing. We decided that we would not have a storefront; we would just be a virtual business or an online business, which we settled on to keep the cost down which, I am glad we did because in January 2021, we started hearing about the Covid virus and by March the world as we knew it was shut down.
For the rest of 4th Quarter of 2020 and First Quarter of 2021, we simply worked on getting our name out to the world through social media mostly LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as well as email campaigns. We can staff for the whole United States for direct Hires and Temp to Hire and contract workers in all 50 states, but mostly we stick to working within Texas because we want to help the people of our state get back on their feet.
We are a small Veteran Owned Staffing Company and I am a disabled Veteran so we are working on getting Amerifen Solutions LLC certified as a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with the Department of Veteran Affairs. We are a registered US Government Contractor as well as a registered contractor for the City of Houston. We are a proud member of the Better Business Bureau (BBB) since May 2021. We help bring opportunities and qualified candidates together. This is a win/win for everyone. The Business that is looking gets a great Candidate. The Candidate gets a new job, and we are able to help everyone and like in a fair tale with the happy ending, we get paid for your services.
This is really rewarding when you can help someone that really needs to find a job to provide for their family. It helps Corali (my wife) and I sleep good at night knowing what we do does make a difference in people’s lives. My grandparents taught me to always do the best you can at whatever you do. The US Army taught me never to give up or surrender. I use both of these lessons in life and in my business, when I can’t seem to find the right candidate, I fall back, regroup and go at it again. Double down on the ads and I have found a solution to most of my issues.
The companies we staff for seem to appreciate the fact we don’t give up. Now we are really starting to pick up and I believe 4th quarter of 2021 and even on into 2022 will be good for business as the rest of the country gets vaccinated and starts back to a new normalcy we will be ready to serve their staffing needs. Our field of expertise are within logistics and supply chain. As well as light manufacturing. We fill positions mostly for freight forwarders, Warehousing, carrier sales and drivers, Logistics & Freight forwarding sales, Logistics Coordinators, Import & export agents, Track & Trace Analyst, Supervisors and Managers, Dispatchers, dock operations, business development, Account Managers, Compliance, Terminal manager, Freight brokers, Air and Ocean agents. Material handlers, inventory planners, international traffic coordinators, auditors, Warehouse supervisors, Material planners, Senior managers and directors in Logistics and supply chain. We are working on moving into finding school teachers for Texas area schools, and manufacturing workers and well as heating and air condition technicians.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Covid has made it extremely hard to staff for companies because since 2021 to about now early June 2021, the world has been shut down.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Amerifen Solutions LLC is a Veteran Owned Staffing Company based in Texas. We are a virtual/online staffing company; We do not have a storefront; everything is done online. Because of this fact, we can sell our service at 10% vs. other staffing agents that have a 25% or greater sell rate. We are a veteran-owned company and we try to help all the veterans we can find jobs and get them back on their feet, but that said, we are Texans as well and we have all of Texas. Tejas is the Spanish spelling of a Caddo word Taysha which meaning Friend. That is what Amerifen Solutions LLC is to Texas; your friend, when you need a staffing agency, we are here for both Candidate and business.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Corali and I are faithful people. We believe God has a plan for us and so we put it in his hands and 2021 has been slow but we believe we will come out ahead in the end.
Pricing:
- On Direct hires we charge on a 10% direct hire fee based on the gross salary of the person that is hired. Most charge 25% to 50% for the same services.
