Meet Alicia Mitchell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Mitchell.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi, my name is Alicia Mitchell. I’m a mother of two and a Dallas native-born and raised. I started a podcast called OTC (On The Cool/Over The Counter) back in July of last year 2020 and it’s totally FREE! What inspired me to do podcasting was me just stumbling on an outlet for my inner and sometimes darker emotions. That I’d always hide, and stuff down inside me. I started releasing episodes with certain titles directed at life/self-improvement. So this was basically real life for me. As I was expressing and pouring out raw emotions I’ve been dealing and struggling with and how I’m advocating and working through them.

This podcast is letting others know you’re not alone and you can get through this. We’re all human and we’re all one! Since starting my podcast, it has been featured on the radio show On Your Mark ft Russell Flannigan whose is affiliated with the Dallas Cowboys! That, in turn, got me a listen by former Cowboys Marion Barber!!! We’re all over the world UK, Israel, Ghana and much more!!! I’ve also created a live visual version of my podcast through IG TV on my Instagram at @Aquaflow89. So you have audio and visual forms of my podcast. My platform is on anchor, but we can also be reached on Apple Music, Spotify etc.! This is my baby, my heart! I want to nurture it and let it grow! Filling the world with hope and love! Watching it grow and evolve!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road, I must admit, lol. But In turn, it hasn’t been so bumpy either. It’s a little in between. Only because I am a mother first, an employee second, and lastly, I just have everyday life still going on in the background. So, to say the least, it’s been hard sometimes finding my spark to create good content and to make my mark. But I’m grateful I don’t have a set schedule in mind of how I would release them. It’s just when the magic moment comes conquer it, ya know? But I still try to be realistic to keep my audience in tune by setting a timeline of at least releasing one episode a month along with an IG TV. The lucky part is it doesn’t matter what day, as long as it’s within the month. That way I don’t have so much pressure on me to constantly put out content. Which might become watered down later on down the line.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an pharmacy technician and have been one for over eight years. I own my own mobile notary business (Alicia’s Mobile Notary & More), which specializes in Power Of Attorneys, Mortgages, Wills etc. I’m known for just being an honorable and selfless pillar in my community. I’m always giving back and offering my time to help others in need. I love life coaching and assisting the elderly! I’ve volunteered for the biggest charity in Dallas called Dare TO Dream.

I’m a part of Kids-U organization as a parent and learning family service facilitator. With this company, I’m now working with the organization on adopting a Highway in the fall. I’m also a part of a leadership cohort based in Washington,DC called NCFL (National Centers Family Learning) and we meet sometimes weekly to monthly over zoom meetings. Focusing on how we can get asset mapping virtually into our homes during a pandemic.
