Check Out Michael Reynolds’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Reynolds.

Hi Michael, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Oh, but there’s so much to tell. I was born in Oklahoma City but raised in a small town between Waco and Austin. Although grateful to be raised in a small town with small-town values, I couldn’t get out of there fast enough! After moving to Austin, OKC and Tulsa, I arrived in Dallas in 2006 and have loved every bit of it. I have always been in Sales in one form or another. My first sales job was selling Kirby vacuum cleaners door to door. I highly recommend doing that for any sales professional as you learn to overcome objections and put on armor for skin. Fun times!! I also tried my hand in multiple fine dining restaurants, which was fun, and you really learn a lot about people. As for real estate, I started out in Property Management and was quickly promoted multiple times but I always knew I wanted to sell real estate. My original plan was to start a brokerage in which I did, growing to many agents before I decided it’s not what I really was passionate about so I ended up closing it and joined the best brokerage on the planet. From there, it’s been a wild ride, to say the least.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I started my own firm primarily focusing on apartment locating, which transitions nicely into sales and gave me the footing to do more. However, while I love practicing real estate, it can be an extremely stressful and difficult career. People think that it’s such an easy job and money just falls from trees, but it’s the exact opposite of that. You have to work extremely hard, get out of your comfort zone and do things you’re not accustomed to doing. The worst, most challenging part of it is when you hear of friends or family using other agents instead of you, gut-punch!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
While my most stressful moments come from work, my most triumphant ones do as well. I’d have it no other way! My absolute favorite to sell is modern/contemporary luxury homes. While there are not a tremendous amount of true modern homes in the Dallas area, there are some absolutely extraordinary ones that I have been fortunate enough to be a part of selling. I also have an affinity for lakefront properties. The water soothes my soul. I have been extremely blessed to have some incredible mentors that have contributed to my success. I am very passionate about my work, perhaps too passionate at times. I make it a point that communication with my clients is my number 1 priority as I know how stressful it can be. I also believe in integrity and being 100% open and honest whether clients want to hear it or not. I think transparency is critical.

How do you think about happiness?
I am a very spiritual person and as a person in recovery, I am truly a walking miracle. What makes me happy is family. My wife, 2 boys, and our Sphynx cat, Chloe. After that, hands down is diving. Diving with sharks to be specific. My first encounter with a shark was diving the Blue Hole in Belize. I have been obsessed ever since. The deep blue is my happy place.
