Conversations with Ericka Pearson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ericka Pearson.

Hi Ericka, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Cooking has always been my passion, since a kid I remember times my cousins would complain about me wanting to watch food network channel, lol I admired so much how they would transform these simple ingredients into 5 star plates. It totally blew my mind!!

I always knew my calling was to become a chef even when I would stray away from it, somehow it found its way back to me, as if the world is depending on me to do it. There were many times where I went to sell food at Clubs, barbershops etc, I just was never consistent.
It wasn’t until I went into a deep depression and the only thing that got me out of my bed was when I had to cook, eventually I forgot about my pain and was forced into my purpose I Proudly Say depression is what got me to where I am today!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
So far things has been smooth, I enjoy growing and learning new things with my business. Even when things aren’t so smooth it’s still okay, it’s like my baby!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m Chef Ericka Owner of Savory Souls Kitchen.

I’m a southern bell from Birmingham Al who loves to cook good food. I provide private catering, and meal preps all over Dallas TX.

My food is made with lots of love and care, most of all it’s made fresh with the best ingredients. I provide an experience like no other, professional service, and delicious savory food.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
It’s okay to ask questions, it’s a lot of things I wasn’t aware of when I first started my business simple things such as how to charge customers, or how to shop for large orders. I think it’s very important to research ask people who are in better positions questions, and don’t over work yourself! Enjoy the beauty of being the boss!
