Community Highlights: Meet Chris Allen of Advanced Computing & Technology

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Allen.

Hi Chris, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello, my name is Chris Allen and I am the CEO and Co-Founder of Advanced Computing and Technology. My company started in September of 2020 after breaking free from the corporate would that drove me into the ground. I have spent the past 11 years working in Information Technology, specifically for the restaurant and hospitality industry. Major chains and Mid Level chains. I would work 90 plus hours a week, fly all over the country to do installations and programming for these restaurants. I had no work-life balance, which led to so many hardships mentally, physically and emotionally. I was completely drained and working for companies that would replace me the second I walked out. I knew this.

Along the way, I’ve developed and mastered the skill in all facets of restaurant technology from database building, network infrastructure, design, software development, coding, programming, point of sale systems, credit card merchants, low voltage wiring and electrical. I grew so tired of having these skills but unable to truly flourish happily with them. I was being worked to death, and I knew I wanted to change. I even fell on extremely hard times that pushed me, even more, to go work for myself. I finally built of enough courage and took a leap of faith. My company has generated remarkable and substantial amounts of revenue since January alone. Unprecedented numbers that I would have never imagined even if I wanted to. The growth continues and I have reached a point that I can now reach out and hire other IT Professionals to come and join my company. We have over 39 restaurants under contract and over 25 contracts pending to become 100% under Advanced Computing & Technologies support. It’s been a beautiful thing and I appreciate all the love and support! It’s only up from here. We will continue to grow, and we will definitely continue to give back to the community.

My story has had its ups and downs, and I wanted to share this in hopes that it will encourage others to GO FOR IT! I thank you guys for allowing me this platform and for your consideration to feature me. I would like to say thank you to my loving wife, my incredible friends, my children and everyone that continues to support me during this journey. I love you all!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been smooth. There are always bigger competitors and these corporate giants that do what you do. I was able to blend 5 skill sets into one company which allowed us have a company that is extremely rare which allowed me to put up a fight with these big box companies. It started off slow and some days I would get discouraged thinking, “maybe I need to make this a side job.”

And then BOOM!!! Job after job kept coming and coming out of literally nowhere. My friends in the restaurant industry kept telling them to “call Chris, call Chris,”… And the ball has just been rolling back to back to back now. If you are starting a business… Don’t ever quit doing something you love! If you believe in it enough, it will work. Don’t give up.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a restaurant software developer and systems engineer. What I do that sets me apart is… I am me! I am personable and it’s beyond the dollar for me. I do great quality work and remain reachable. Most IT people open tickets and they hand them off. I dont! I fix it immediately if possible. I am not your normal IT nerd. I actually have a personality and develop relationships with all of my clients.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I have had so many people help me along the way. The list is so long! I couldn’t name everyone if I wanted to. They know who they are! Most of them are so humble that they don’t need recognition. I love each and every one of you! I would like to thank my cousin Ty for believing in me and giving me the courage to start this business! It’s been and incredible experience. Thanks TY!
