Check Out Kennedy Watkins’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kennedy Watkins.

Hi Kennedy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My story is not yet over. It all started at Midwestern State University, where I attended college my freshman year through the mid-sophomore year. I was eating my life away. I was depressed and not focused on school. People use to call me big, and it will always make me cry and feel less of myself. I continued to eat snacks daily, and sometimes I would order a pizza and eat it by myself. Next, my love life was terrifying, and I’m not afraid to say my heart was broken. When your are younger you feel as if the person is there forever and it changed in a heartbeat. I also experienced a life changing tragedy during this time. Mid sophomore year I decided to change everything up and get my life on track. I was sick of getting called fat or big. I was tired of not focusing on things that didn’t matter. I Prayed and started working out every day after class constantly.

During this time, the pandemic was just starting so I had to go home. Going home didn’t stop me it actually made me go even harder. In addition, I met someone who loved me just the way I was and motivated me to keep going. My family encouraged me to love myself and to not let others’ words defeat me. With faith and guidance from God, I made me a fitness page so others could track my results. I didn’t realize my journey inspired so many people. I fell in love with working out, and now it is my passion. I recently decided to start training others who once was just like me. I also started my own active workout gear business. I sell waist trainers, undergarments, activewear and gym bags. I named it Fit.nessdoll “Just a Doll being fit.” I believe working out in the gym. You should feel confident in yourself. You see so many younger/older people wanting to be fit and healthier. With my merchandise, it will remind you that you are a Doll and can be fit. My story is not yet over, but with God everything will be possible. In the future, I will be looking for my own gym to help others with their journey to being a Fitness Doll.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Some days I don’t want to work out because I have an autoimmune disorder that causes my joints to hurt. In addition, just to be transparent, I don’t want to eat healthy or workout. These are the times I have to encourage myself.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am currently in college working on my Elementary Education degree specializing in Special Education.
