Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Trotter.
Hi Matthew, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m a simple man, so I’ll keep it short and sweet. I don’t believe in being complicated. I was born in Monticello, Arkansas. I moved to Fort Worth when I was four—been in Texas ever since. Parents worked in the education and corporate fields. I played football and basketball growing up. Had NBA dreams like any other kid. As I grew older, those hoop dreams started to fade. I always wanted to be an entrepreneur as well. In school, I always wanted to know more than what was being taught. History, science, and technology were my favorite subjects. I always have been a researcher! I look up everything lol. I attended Tarrant County College and Dallas Baptist University for Management information systems. I always seek out knowledge for myself via books and videos on YouTube or research from experts. Iron sharpens iron, so I believe in always learning and seeking knowledge.
I have a lot of different working experiences with major corporations. I worked for major companies such as Halliburton and General Motors, to name a couple. I’m currently an aviation mechanic at a Major defense contractor here in Texas. I’ve always wanted more for myself and my family though. You work hard for your employer, so you should always work hard for yourself and invest in personal growth as well. I’m a big family man, so everything I do is for my family and our future. My family motivated me to become a Realtor and entrepreneur. My dreams are to become a successful real estate figure in the DFW metroplex. When I leave this earth, I want to have left an imprint from helping others and making a difference in our communities. My coined phrase I always use is “I love helping people find their change of PLACE”. I love family time, sports, traveling, food, fashion, and I’m a big sneakerhead. I’ll leave readers with this. Never give up on your dreams and put the work in and see how your life changes. When things get tough, no matter whatever you may be doing. Don’t give up! If it was easy, everyone would be doing it!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Working a job and also building your brand while taking care of your family at the time. Sometimes there doesn’t seem like enough hours in a day. But it’s all worth it knowing your family is good and you’re making progress with your goals. Just learning more information to become successful. When deals don’t work out, it gets frustrating. But when they do, the feeling of success is such an amazing feeling. Lesson learned… Everyone won’t support you but that’s ok. There are many that will! Keeping shooting your shot because you can’t make shots you don’t take!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Putting the work in! Knowledge. I believe in measuring twice and cutting once. If I don’t know something, I will seek the true answer. Dedication to your clients and treating people right!
