Today we’d like to introduce you to Genesis Escamilla.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I love fashion, but I always struggle to find clothes that fits someone with curves and boobs. My goal is to provide affordable, cute, trendy fashion for the real-sized human. Faith 17:20 wasn’t an easy choice to begin but I believe that God gave me the vision to begin the company. The name of the company was inspired by my son, Bentley Matthew. When I was pregnant, I almost lost my sweet boy, but God had other plans. He grew my faith when I had none. The verse it is from is Matthew 17:20, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” During trials and tribulations, my faith has always shown through.
Faith 17:20 stands out a couple ways from your average jo. We are fire-owned and operated and have faith-based values. With that being said, we do have a prayer request section. I want to build a community with people, not just sales. I am a soon-to-be fire wife and a mama bear. I know many fire wives have similar struggles and being a mama doesn’t have to be an isolating title. I want to also share those stories on my site via a blog. Really grit and faith got me here. I have quit many times and cried even more. But I know my dedication will pay off one day!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I have had my ups and downs. Marketing is always a struggle. As someone who wears many hats and still works for income, time is spread thin. Getting my name out there and showing people why I am different through a story can also be a struggle. Everyone is so unique in their own way.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I own a trendy clothing boutique. We are faith-based and fully firefighter-owned! I specialize in finding clothing that fits real shaped women! we aren’t all 5’11 and size 0. And I HATE when someones try on a size that is marketed to be large but is really a junior’s large, and you just feel terrible about yourself. I am one of those people. I am proud of my business name. It truly comes from my heart and speaks beyond a shopping experience. I want the readers to know that I am here for them. Whatever they need, customer service is everything to me, and I want to be able to provide the best solution as well as create relationships.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
I am online based so this hasn’t really affected me.
