Hi Brittany, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in a small family-oriented, country town – Terrell. It’s the home of Jamie Foxx, located about 30 miles east of Dallas. Growing up in Terrell added value to my life by showing me what family is all about. Every where you go there is someone who knows you, your parents or someone in your family. The people there look out for each another – just as family should do.
I finally stepped out on faith and purchased the $99 Starter kit. October 2020, I started with Paparazzi. I have an amazing sponsor and team who have become a second family to me. When I joined Paparazzi, I was asked to give my “why”! Why did I join? At the moment, I didn’t have a clearly defined answer, then I started to think about ALL the things I’m grateful for. I joined because it’s my way to give back to my parents. My mom is on dialysis (Kidney Disease) and has Multiple Sclerosis. She relies heavily on my dad and I. Two years ago, my daddy had a mild stroke that caused him minor memory loss and some mobility in his right hand. 2020 came and brought COVID-19 with it. April of 2020 we found out my daddy had Stage 2 Prostate Cancer! My dad started radiation soon after! As a believer of the gospel and follower of Christ, I knew God was in control and He would see my parents through. This was the one time that I couldn’t take control and fix it. However, starting my own business was a great opportunity to help and show them that they weren’t in this fight alone! A portion of the profits that I make utilized to help cover their medical expenses. This is my why – this is me giving back to my parents. Impacting the lives of others, one jewel at a time!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
As a new business owner, I’m constantly learning and evolving. I started in the middle of the pandemic, right before the Christmas season began when stores were slowly opening back up. One of the toughest obstacles I have had to overcome is my fear of public speaking. As an Independent consultant, networking and talking to others is a major part of the business – direct sales. It took me 3 months to build up the courage to host my first “live sale”. Although I was nervous at first, I had an amazing time and received a lot of encouraging feedback and support. When you are starting out (with any business) you have to market your brand. You have to advertise your products and services – faithfully! Most people think Paparazzi caters specifically to women but it actually caters to men as well! My goal this fiscal year is to dedicate a weekly live strictly for the men! Fellas, be on the look out soon!! Bedazzled Beauty caters to the entire family!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have over ten years of retail experience. Customer Service is the most important part. You have to be open, honest and communicate with your clients. I truly believe that my mission in life is to serve others. By providing beautiful nickel and lead-free accessories, I am helping others feel good about themselves. When you look good – you feel good!! Jewelry and accessories never go out of style!
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My happiness comes from serving others. I am the Youth/Young Adult director at my local church. Volunteering my time and talents is simply my way of giving “thanks” to God for his many blessing. Outside of Bedazzled Beauty, I work at an elementary school and provide Special Education services to students with learning disabilities. Seeing their faces light up when they master a specific goal is the best feeling ever!
